The math does not work when you break it down. :uhoh:
Thousand rounds at 120 bucks equals 12 bucks per hundred. 100 round plastic boxes of CCI are 7 bucks. That would be 70 bucks for the ammo and 50 bucks for the container.

Thanks for the correction. Glanced at it and did not see the "6". :uhoh:
At $120, it still works out to seven and a half bucks per hundred, at $98, it's six dollars and twelve cents per 100.

Well I am sure glad I didn't impulse buy it then, especially since I have to go back there today to return the garbage pistol case I bought the other day.

I do its dirtier than most .22lr but still functional. It isnt even copper coated, which is fine for a .22 lr.
I prefer the 325 round match packs or Elly purple box.

yes its a good deal here at about $8 per 100 for walmart prices. id jump on it. and in my opinion ignore the remmington stuff. ive never had a good experiance with thier 22lr ammo (i like the corlokt).
the cci i like best is 40grn lrn standard velocity. if you can get it at the same price with any kind of shipping coupon youre stealing it.

From their website:
"500rd Brick Original USGI Issue Surplus .22 Long Rifle ammo. Ammo is 1995 production by Remington Arms, 40gr Standard Velocity. See picture for open brick. We only have a few cases of these on hand. Military Surplus .22 LR ammo is rare and should NOT be confused this with the cheap bulk ammo sold at Wallyworld. This is MUCH better ammo!"
I have bought Garand ammo from these guys and it has been outstanding quality. I trusted them for that and went with them on the .22. I'll report in a seperate post when it arrives.

I'm a fan of the 40gr MiniMag solids. IMO if a .22 semiauto won't run with those there is a problem with the gun. I bought 500 rds of it when I bought my wife her Mosquito. She says it was 100%. I seem to recall one malf but I could be wrong. ;) I've run it in my 22/45 & 10/22 and it's about 100% in those too.
$98 with 8% sales tax that comes to $6.62/hd. Cheaper than I've ever seen it around here by a buck or more. Plus you get the dry box. I'd be a buyer at that price. Haven't seen that deal in my area though. :(

Hmm, I may have to pick up a brick and try it out. If it works out I'll just start buying it by the case.

At a typical price of $6.50/100, picking up this deal (At Walmart (( advertised in current shooting flyer)), for 99.99, as opposed to Gander's 119.99) basically gets you .25 off per box, and a free ammo can by my math.
6.5*16=$104.OO as opposed to 99.99....one you add tax where applicable, its a draw. Not a SUPER bargin, but not a bad price at all

Interesting tidbit of information: CCI makes 4,000,000 rimfire rounds each day.
Here are links to two excellent videos on how CCI designs, makes and tests their ammo:

Yeah, I had to stop by the local WW when I was out running errands and pick up one of these - just because of this thread (and the neat ammo can you get with the deal).

Have not checked my local Walmarts yet. The price is okay. It is not a steal. I am assuming that this is their standard copper washed CCI HV. Some would choose just to buy the individual 100-ct boxes rather than a "bulk pack". I guess it depends on how much you shoot 22's. Ten of those would be a pretty good supply!

Gander Mountain is atrociously priced on almost everything, but they will match a competitors price on everything as well. This is great news for me cause I get flyers from Fleet Farm, Farm and Fleet, Dunhams, Wal-Mart, and Cabelas but Gander is the closest to me. The only stipulation is the competitor must be within one hours drive from that location and I tell ya, no wage slave clerk is checking mapquest on that.
BTW, thanks for the heads up on the walmart deal. None of my walmarts stock firearms and are sparse on ammo, so I was able to buy a couple at Gander for that price.

I totally dislike "playing the game". Local grocery store has coke on sale. I want some coke. But it would be the only thing I would buy there. I go to Walmart and would anyway... mention the other store price on coke and they sell it for the same price (as long as it's local). I guess that is playing the game, but if I don't know the sale price at another store, I would buy it at Walmart anyway.

Playing the game was meant in a joking fashion, I assure you. Just pointing out that if a sale item is out of stock or unavailable elsewhere Gander will always match a price, and that's the ONLY time I ever shop there.

How'd you manage that? My walmart doesn't carry crap for ammo either. Did you print off the online ad and pass it off as a store ad to get the discount?

I buy a lot of CCI ammo at WalMart. I can't stand Remmington and Winchester is ok. I never seem to have trouble with the CCI, even their 375 rd. bulk pack shoots very consistent. The $98 deal at Wal is all right, but what makes it good is the "free" can (plastic). Good ammo, Good storage and Fair price = Good Buy. I believe it was Meatloaf who expressed it best, "...two outta three aint bad."

So long as they sell some of the advertised items like clothing they should have the ad right on the sporting goods counter.

Just do and test order with your address and it will generate an accurate shipping quote.
