If you had to pick between these two, which would you select?

Anything better for concealed (pocket) carry in the ~$300 price point? (And $600 is not the same price point.)

Thanks.

The Taurus in that choice. If weight is a sensitive point, look into the PF9. It's something like 6 ounces lighter and in the same price point.

I have a 709 and have been quite happy with its performance. I've put somewhere between 1000 and 1500 rounds through it with no problems at all. The trigger is a little funky, but not hard to get used to. Extra mags seem a little pricey.

Between those 2, the Taurus is the best option. Under $300, you can get a much much better option with a used S&W 3rd gen police trade in. I would suggest a 6904. They are bigger than your 2 options but still easily consealable and more capacity 12+1. Far more reliable and time tested than the SCCY or Taurus. I've owned many a Taurus and have liked them, but the 6904 beats any of them hands down IMO. It just functions flawless no matter what you put in it. Check out gcole on gunbroker, usually around $250 or so.
