Tactical single action .357?

Ok, before the pitch forks and torches come hear me out on this.... I have a Heritage Arms 357 magnum taking up space in the gun safe, and I was thinking about making it into a new project...Tacticool revolver!
List of wants:
Top rail
Bottom rail
New grips, like the "tactical" (i.e. tear your non-gloved hands up) grips
Sight?
Ported barrel?
New coating, I can not remember the name, but like the finish on a Glock or XD.

Now I understand the idiocy of some of this. In reality I would be happy with a scope mount for hunting, but I tend to have a history of not leaving well enough alone.

Any ideas are appreciated!

Here it is as of now

A lazer pointer is always nice to point out what yous going blast.
Don't forget a bayonet mount or at least a nub to keep the muzzle out the armored port for the blasting goodness.
Paint it tan. People like a tan.

It's your gun do with it as you wish, I personally would never dress up a single action like a glock. I just don't see the point however post pics!!

There really is no point, it's purely a "because I can" situation. Im a tinkerer at heart, what can I say?

Also, when it comes to rails I am not terribly worried about taping the barrel, its how the ejector is held in place.

Is that a weapon-light or a flame-thrower attachment?

Either way, too cool.

Now that is awesome, but on topic... The amount of material I would have to remove from the top of the frame to level it for a scope mount is quite alarming. I may have to use some sort of filler

LMAO at MrBorland's pic. :D

Ruger makes single actions with scope mounts....44 super blackhawk hunter. Probably spend less buying one.

So the answer to wasted gun money is to waste more money? I live in a different world.

I believe I've posted this before, but one of my post retirement jobs was a security director for a local congregation of 5000+, and I frequently assigned myself to the balcony overlooking the senior minister. My shot in an active shooter scenario would have been at about 35 yards, and I felt my best option (other than toting a rifle around in church) was my 7 1/2 inch Vaquero carried in a shoulder holster. Maybe your idea isn't that crazy!

Remove the front sight, add a barrel shroud with top & bottom rails and integral magnaport chamber at the front.

Why don't you take the monies you are going to waste, and buy ammo? At least try to be efficient with it, you know, hit what you're aiming at!

Take it to Red Jacket so they can "open up an entirely new marketplace"!

I would not underestimate a man armed with a single-action .357 if it were a gun he had trained with sufficiently to be able to work within its limitations.

I do wonder whether the OP's gun has what it takes to withstand a lot of use.
How well would it index after 1000 rounds or hard use?
How well-secured is the base pin?
How sturdy is the ejector assembly?

Forget the optics and rails and ports.
Completely.

If nobody wants that gun now, they REALLY won't want it after you've done your worst on it.

well I was about to start milling and tapping for the top rail when the wife says she is interested in a CCW. Long story short, she wants the 357, I think I'll cut down the barrel, re-crown, and re sight instead. She likes the grip and single action. Not my first choice and not the best, but after showing no interest this is a foot in the door. Sorry guys.

personally I have no desire to do something like that, but I am not sure you can decide what is wasting money unless it is your money.

Too many people don't enjoy this hobbie. They take it too serious and look down on others. If you can afford it and it gives you pleasure go for it

I was just going by what he said
I have a Heritage Arms 357 magnum taking up space in the gun safe,

obvious this gun isn't a collectable so a shooter not being shot is a waste no? it is for me because I can't afford a lot of guns so I tend to shot all I own regularly.

I would...

1. widen the hammer spur for easy cocking.
2. thin/enlarge the trigger guard for gloved hands.
3. shorten barrel AND the ejector rod and replace front sight with ramp style sight.
4. slicken the hammer spring so it's easy to cock but speeds up the hammer lock time.
5. lighten the hammer to also speed up the lock time.
6. round the grips for easier handling.
7. polish all the internals then have them hard chromed.
8. polish the chambers to the empties just drop out by gravity instead of using the ejector rod.

This above is to make it a FIGHTING gun.

Tac-cool?

Port? NO. Lasers? Heck NO. Rails? Double Heck NO.

Make it a fighting gun, not a 'tac-cool' gun.
