BigShep85 October 4, 2012, 08:18 PM I am going to pick up a S&W 629-2 this weekend guys and I am looking to dress it in ivory.
SOOOOO......
I was wondering if we could kick off a picture thread full of those silver guns (stainless or nickle) and those white grips to get me pumped up for the next member of my collection.

CraigC October 5, 2012, 01:51 AM Don't have any real ivory yet but I can get it started. I love "silver" guns and ivory (substitute or stag) where most folks like dark grips on them. Be sure to post pics of yours when you get it finished.

brnmuenchow October 5, 2012, 03:38 PM Name that movie: "They're ivory. Only a pimp from a cheap New Orleans w____house would carry a pearl-handled pistol."
Love to have a Pearl handled SAA in my collection one day.:D
lowercase October 5, 2012, 03:52 PM Uh oh...I can already tell that this thread is gonna cost me money.
horsemen61 October 5, 2012, 04:05 PM nice pistols guys great combo sliver and ivory:)
nelsonal October 5, 2012, 10:33 PM That holly is really sharp! I really like light wood grips and stocks on silver or blued guns. These are very nice examples folks! I've been saving some rainbow poplar for grips but might have to find some holly, too.
BigShep85 October 6, 2012, 12:10 AM Movie is "Patton";)

Hotshot10 October 6, 2012, 06:15 PM CraigC, who did the finishes on the SAs in your second picture? They look amazing.
BigShep85 October 6, 2012, 09:29 PM I never get tired of seeing CraigC's revolvers:cool:
CraigC October 7, 2012, 12:06 AM Thanks gents!
The Ruger is a custom built by Jim Stroh and has a matte hard chrome finish applied by Accurate Plating. The USFA has the factory matte nickel finish. The pic does a good job of showing the difference in color between the two finishes.
mnrivrat October 7, 2012, 03:59 AM My daily carry gun a Model 731 . It's Titamium but still has the look.
bannockburn October 8, 2012, 07:13 AM This is my Ruger Vaquero .45LC with a set of Tru Ivory grips from Bar S Grips. The color is called Natural or New Ivory. I love the way they look with a stainless gun.

bannockburn October 10, 2012, 06:55 AM scaatylobo
Very nice! Love those grips.
scaatylobo October 10, 2012, 11:15 AM Thank you, they are not all that I was hoping for .
But they came on the pistol when I got it from a friend,he sold it to me only on the promise that I would take it out and shoot it.
He had it in his safe for years and it was a 'queen' to him.
I use only those loads that are safe for all Colt SAA.
She is fun to shoot !.
CraigC October 10, 2012, 11:40 AM I don't believe that's mastodon ivory, which would be fossilized.
scaatylobo October 10, 2012, 01:32 PM I took the gun and papers out of the safe while reading this to see.
The company sent along the papers to allow me to own the ivory.
It is from Nutmeg Sports LLC.
Stating that the grips are made from ELEPHANT TUSK cut from the tusk, from ivory brought into country prior to 1989.
So sorry that I made a boo boo.
CraigC October 10, 2012, 01:46 PM No big deal, it's mighty fine either way. I'm itching to send a USFA to Nutmeg for some ivory. :)
