Janet and i took our newly aquired stone sparked .45 Hawken outside today and ran some swaged lead thru 'er.
She took out a bowlin pin at about 'bout 30 yards with her first shot.
( first time she ever touched off a stuffer )
I'm not at all suprised with the accuracey of this little front loader.
I fed it a thrown 80gr charge o' 3f Goex topped by a lubed home cut tick patch wrappin a Hornady swaged .440 round ball.
Bore was pre seasoned with Bore Butter.

This is the gizmo i use to cut the tickin' for the patches.
It's been so many years since i bot it i couldn't even tell ya where i got it.
It sure does a fine job tho.
172944
After we shot about a dozen shots from the back porch, i walked 'er out into the back field and set a bowlin pin out at 82 paces.(yards)
Picked it right off twice from a sittin position.
This is one real fine accurate rifle :D
Thanx Ruger. If you folks hadn't saved me the money ya did on that ROA cylinder job i wouldn't o' had the 2 Benjamins needed to buy this fun stuffer.

:)Yep, Jim you're a very lucky man. My wife doesn't mind my shooting all I want, but she won't even handle a firearm, much less shoot one. Ah the sweet smell of cordite....:)

NOPE... i'm BLESSED !!:D
My wife doesn't mind my shooting all I want, but she won't even handle a firearm, much less shoot one.
Not so with us Noose. I feel like i'm cheatin on her if i got out back and shoot without her.Or go to a gun store without her.
And don't even think of goin to, or doin a gun show without her.:uhoh:
Ah the sweet smell of cordite....
Funny you say that Noose. She sat there across from me tryin to capture a pic of the gun goin off on camera. And after like 6 er 7 shots i said.." 'nuf with the camera, it's yer turn to shoot ".
She said...." oh, i'm ok, i just love sittin here smellin the powder burn "
She even likes the smell of Hoppe's NO.9 on the kitchen table.;)

I won plenty of quarter pots with my TC .45 Hawken. Though it has been replaced with a .54, I really miss it sometimes.

Jim, you are definitely blessed! I have a little theory, I'm noticing that in the best of relationships where both are shooters the man usually gets outshot by his significant other.
That being said, I wouldn't mind being outshot by a purdy gal! Yessss!! :D

Hi Gene,
I don't have it in front o' me but if i recall it was made by Forester.Far as i know, it's jist called a patch cutter.
It works real slick like. Ya just lay it overtop yer tickin, give slight downward pressure and give it a turn.
I will take a close look at it tomorrow and let ya know for sure.
I have no recollection of where i got it or what i paid for it.

Thanx Levi. I sure am :D
What ya have is more than a theory.
It's a fact coz wimmins don't have that 'macho gotta prove somethin ' attitude and there fore do indeed do better than a lot o' men. 'specialy when it's in a freindly gatherin setting.

Jim, I think you are right. My friend's wife shot 25 straight two weeks ago, and she's 60 something years old and humble. Guess it shouldn't come as a surprise that women are good at shooting, not to mention they get to use both sides of their brain where us men apparently only use one side.
Luckily I've been getting to know a nice gal who loves to shoot guns too. The other day she said she wants to try my Remington New Model Army.
Valentine's day present? Yes please. :D

Halloween? I've got that covered as well too. Have a very smokey, filthy, tight patterning, and fast moving Halloween!

Load: 3 drams of Goex under a homemade card wad and 1 1/8th ounce of lead, crimped on my Versa Mec shotshell press and touched off by a CCI Magnum! ;)
I shot a box just like this with Winchester AA hulls, they were sa-weeeet! :)

Jim, most men would go and say that diamonds and gold are a "girl's best friend."
Well that's nice and all, but if she's very happy with flints and lead you really got someone special.
If the valentines day shells don't work, perhaps some NICE looking pistol cartridges. With real crisp and new brass cases and freshly cast shiny soft lead bullets. Like some nice BP loaded .45 Colts for her pink gripped SAA. Or how about some .38 Specials loaded with Holy black for her J-frame?
You could engrave "I love you" into the cavity of the mold in reverse if you really want to go over the top! :D

Hahaha, the only thing 'shiney' Janet ever wanted was more chrome fer her bike.
Well, that was 'till she laid her pretty green eyes upon a pair o' High polished white gripped Vaqeros.http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=170889&d=1346540708 :D
This year for Christmas she wants a stone sparked pistol kit and a rc airplane.
Don't git me wrong. She likes her diamonds and gold too. BUT..she wants to dig her own diamonds and prospect her own gold with the hand dredge and sluice box i made for her.
Or, find 'em with her metal detector.;)

Jim, you are indeed a very blessed man! :D
Ask her about a rifle kit, I know Traditions makes a pretty nice flintlock rifle. I have one in .50, my mom finds it comfortable enough for her to shoot. Not to mention it's a very nice smokepole! The .50 is versatile too, she could take anything from rabbits to buffalo! ;)
Third freedom keeper from the bottom. Below the shotgun and above the Marlin lever gun.

The Traditions Frontiers are good rifles. If you get one get a Minnie ball and roundball mold so she can cast both. Roundballs would be great for smaller game, but with Minnie balls you'd have some pretty nasty rifle ammo and she could snipe some elk. I found a .50 Minnie ball that I had fired in a berm, it expanded to the size of a silver dollar. :D

She's already got a T/C Hawken .50 ( as soon as i finish rebuildin it ), and now she's got a T/C Hawken .45 ;)
Soon as i can sneak it in i'm gonna redo that one for her.Add some german silver inlays and sech. She'll hafta make 'er own leather goods.Possibles bag, medicine band and such.
We both are indeed truly blessed Levi in that we genuinely enjoy everything together.
One of the things tho that attracts me most to her is her choice of favorite authors. John, Mark, Luke, Mathew, Paul, Peter...........:D
