I'm trying to mount a 4-12x40 scope using a Burris PEPR one piece mount on this rifle. Does the front sight have to be removed? Everthing is mounted, I can get a good check weld, my eye is about 4 inches from the eyepiece to achieve complete field of view of the cross hairs.. The front sight is not visible. the front sight is about 2 inches away from the objective lens. How does this setup effect zeroing in and the ultimate accuracy of the scope.

It doesn't.

The front sight is too close to the scope to be in focus, so you can't see it.

It has no effect on accuracy.

That's good to know because I hear it's a bear to remove the front sight. It's seems odd though that when I'm at the range I see most scopped AR 15's are without the front sight .

I think they are selling more flat top rifles with no sights then they used too.

If you run a low-power scope that focuses closer, you can see at least a ghost outline of the front sight, and that bothers some folks.
