M&P 9c first attempt

Just got a M&P 9mm compact for concealed carry. I've never handled anything less than a full size auto, so this was new territory.

I am really impressed! It is comfortable to shoot, more so than I would have thought possible. Put 150 rounds through it, rapid and slow fire, without a hitch. At 15 yards I could keep three inch groups. I thought groups would be at least twice that. Groups opened up at 25 yards but chances are it won't be needed at such distances. The slide racks easily. My wife's hands were hurting a bit and she had no problem working it. Good news. The trigger is nothing to crow about but it isn't bad. (I'm spoiled by my sweet revolver triggers.) The M&P is at least as comfortable to shoot as our CZ 75B which is a compliment.

The only drawback: it's a pain (literally) to fill the magazines. My wife couldn't manage it. These are some hefty springs. But I got the UpLula device and it was worth every cent. It turned a chore into a ten second snap.

I'm breaking in the holster and still want to test it some more. But this thing is lighter than my SP101 .357 and offers over twice the rounds. I was going to wait until the 9mm Shield was available but glad I didn't.

Now I'm starting to wonder about the full size M&P 45ACP. If it's as good as the 9c, I might have to start saving up for one. I miss having a 45 auto. ;)

Only difference is you give up 4rds (8) in the 45c

I have the compact 45 m&p and love it. It is a soft shooter and very concealable.

An M&P 45 auto would just be for range fun, not CC. I've probably got over a couple thousand 45acp cases from a previous pistol. I'ld hate to waste that resource.

sounds like a good enough reason to buy one to me... lol
