With my 56 year old eyes I cannot even see the rear sight of my Model 70 without my lower bifocal.

That, of course, blurs the target beyond useless.

The solution is a diopter, which works like magic:

The 1949 Model 70:

The Lyman Hawkeye diopoter on average quality uncorrected plastic shooting glasses:

3 shot group at 100 yards from a bag at the bench:

Was aiming at bottom of 6 inch splatter target so the iron sights need some serious adjustment.

Good shootin bushmaster..the o'l peepers still have it! I too can't see open sights anymore..though I still can shoot tang sights/appature sights as well as ever.
I have started shooting revolvers again and I use the clip-on Gehmann adjustable appature..it's just like magic..when you dial that appature smaller..fuzzy near invisable sights..the next instant razor sharp black sights! The Merrit is a good adjustable also.
