Thinking about selling my Sig P229

I have a P229 in .40 S&W, with night sites and rail, night sites, 4 mags, and a Fob us holster. I've put in about 500 rounds through it max. What do you all think it is worth? I already have an XDm and a Glock in .40 S&W that I shoot better with. I like the looks of the Sig and how it feels in my hand, but it's the least accurate gun (in my hands). Anyhow, I'd like to trade it in on something else or sell it outright. Do you lose out a lot buy trading it in at gun store, like you would by trading your car in on a new one at a dealership? Any special laws I need to be aware of selling my handgun in Ohio? Would appreciate any feedback on this or if you think it's wiser to just keep the gun. Thanks!

Sig has a very good program for factory certified used firearms, but as a consequence their trade in values are (in my experience) pretty poor. I saw a friend get offered $500 for a P229 EE that was about $900 NIB and had 200 rounds through it. Your LGS may be more generous, but I'd definitely try selling it online if you have to part with it.

Gosh you're right, those Sigs are just awful. I'd dump it quick if I were you. I tell you what, I'll take it off your hands for $400 and pay the shipping.

What part of Ohio are you in? There are a couple of gunshows coming up in North Eastern Ohio where you could turn that gun around. Medina this weekend, Berea next weekend.

If you're not in a hurry, the best place to sell is a gun show. Go there, pay the entrance fee, and just walk around carrying the box, or if you're ambitious, with a sign taped to it saying what it is and that it's for sale. You'll get offers from people wandering around and from collectors who rented tables.

If you take it in to a brick and mortar store, you might get $400-$500 for it if you're lucky. You should be able to do $700 or so at a gun show.
