All,
I just removed the grenade launcher muzzle device from my yugo sks (thanks to THR info). I have a new recoil muzzle device that I wish to attach. I have never added a muzzle device before. Do I need any special compounds like locktite or something similar to make sure it will not work itself off? Here (http://www.amazon.com/Tactical-Finished-Muzzle-Device-Pattern/dp/B007SYND0A/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1350234845&sr=8-5&keywords=sks+muzzle+brake) is what I wish to attach.

Thanks!

No instructions from the maker?? I would use blue Loctite and then drill and pin it like the original unless their instructions state otherwise. If not pinned the brake could work loose and that would cause unsafe results if it happened (fell off) just when the trigger was pulled.

There's a few different ways you can do this.

Jamnut
If there's a shoulder it contacts than a crush washer would work
Loctite. If that won't hold, then Rocksett
Pin and weld.
Silver solder

A jamnut is where I'd start.

So a Jam nut and Blue Locktite together should be enough, or do I still Have to Drill and Pin it?

FROGO207 - Where would you get a Pin for that brownells? any suggestions on size? What would be the best way to drill it? After it is attached, but before I apply something like Locktite?

MOOKIIE It might take a day or so to talk with my son about a lock tight that he uses on optics. The brand he uses is made in Sweden and from what he told me when it dries/cures it is about as close to permanent as you could as for.

Everyone is making this harder then it needs to be.

If your barrel has a step in it behind the threads?
Put a lock-washer from the hardware store on it so you can take the flash hider off to clean corrosive ammo out of it.

If not?
Put it on with RED LoctiteŽ 272 high strength, high temperature thread locker (~450F from the auto parts store.

It will still be on there when you die of old age.

If you do want it off, you will have to heat it with a propane torch to get it hot enough to break the Lock-Tight loose.
