Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for how to properly clean, care for, and maintain an integrally suppressed AR 9mm upper? Mine is from SRT Arms. Thanks.

wally October 15, 2012, 09:36 AM Following the instructions that come with it would be the best place to start. crazy-mp October 15, 2012, 09:52 PM Not much you can do, its a sealed design and because its integral to the upper you can't really throw it into a ultrasonic cleaner. The only option as far as cleaning goes would be to send it to a 07/02 manufacturer who can makes your sealed can user serviceable. Only down side is it will void the original SRT warranty. giggitygiggity October 15, 2012, 11:25 PM Right now, I run bore snakes through my guns to clean the barrels. I'm not sure if this would work or be preferred in an integrally suppressed upper. Surely there is something I can do to clean it... I don't like the idea of having carbon and lead and whatnot just hanging out in the barrel. Flyincedar October 16, 2012, 01:21 AM You can clean the barrel portion, but there are baffles there too, on the outside of the barrel. With it being a non serviceable unit, not much you can do except get used to the idea of carbon hanging out, or have someone make it serviceable. JustinJ October 16, 2012, 08:43 AM If you can get enough I don't see why you couldn't just soak it in a solvent like denatured alcohol. Should remove much of the carbon. I don't know if there would be any problem soaking in a copper or lead solvent and then rinsing with something like alcohol but i can't see why there would be.
