Well, met two new shooters from TheHighRoad today at Johnson Creek Gun Club. Decided we wanted to shoot rifles at the Dump.
So,
SUNDAY MARCH 7 4:00 P.M.
So far, it's me, Zip06, Shooter003, SASS (BrockThornton), and Machinegun Bob.
Highway 224, through Estacada, two miles past the first Bridge you see, The Dump is on the left side of road (approx 12 miles past Estacada).
The more the merrier, as they say. :) Anybody need directions, PM or or email.
Again, a pleasure to meet you, Shooter003 and nice to get a chance to shoot with Brock.
... time to clean the pistols.

If the weather is decent I'll be up.
And when I die let me die
With a dream in my mind
A smile on my face and no trouble behind
And no cross on my grave
To show my restin' place

It's a rock quarry, made famous by our small Army of shooters. Why did we call it the Dump? Because of all the slobs that leave their stuff behind that we carry out with us.

Wish I could make it this weekend, but will be unavailable for a few weeks. Plus I have to start gathering more ammo before I shoot off what I have.

Can the "Dump" be seen from the freeway? Is it right off 224? Is it before the North Fork Reservoir?

Amish.
It's past the reservoir. When you get to the first Bridge on 224 (which will be on the right), clock 2 miles, and look to your left. It's right off the road underneath a Power Line Tower.
Can't miss it
The more the merrier, considering an almost Black Tuesday.

Hey Carlos,
What a great day for blastin'! It was nice meetin' y'all. You'll have to come over to my side of town for a shoot. I'll post directions and GPS data when we pick a date. See if we can't get some ARFer's to show up. When I first got up there I saw those two guys with the old truck and I thought gee I hope that ain't Carlos! :what: I loved your bolt gun, that was a sweet shooter. You'll like Brown's Camp Quarry. Little bit easier to hold a firing line. Don't have to worry as much about who's behind you. Can drive right up to the line. I'll bring my bench and I still have some Tannerite. I think that last one was a dud because it had been hit with some small caliber rounds and put holes in the bottle. I saw in your bio that you're into music. Are you a player? I've been spankin' the plank (guitar) for about 45 years now. Lookin forward to another shoot when we can start a little earlier and go for some little longer shots.

Yup, I play like a 6 ft 7 tall black man when it comes to blues
I've been playing many decades have passed, but have bad habits.
ON the other hand, I have a lick or two. I'm basically a fair rhythm player at this point. Would like to take some lessons one day.
I've been so much into guns lately that my guitar skills keep gettin better, with lesser practice, but I'm still missing the Holy Grail.

LMAO. When I got up there, I thought they were with you. Ole Cletis there was a piece of work. His friend was at least trying to be nice. I should have let the moron shoot my bolt gun - FR8 - that he called a piece of ????.
Whew, those boys were out there. Shooter003 and I turned and looked at each a few times over their remarks.
LMAO!!!!!
BluesBear, come on down sometime.

It's been about a year since I hit any jams. About two years since I played for $$$. Do you get to any jams on your side of town?

Carlos
March 8, 2004, 10:20 PM
I haven't hit any live music for a while.
I'm a hobbyist only. If you were making $$ for playing, we're in a different league entirely. We'll have to get together though. My playing consists of attempting to keep up with my favorite artists. Haven't jammed with anybody too many hours, usually due to different tastes and skill levels. :(
I'm interested in seeing more local bands this summer. Missing out on a very important part of life. :(
Dang, I'm ready for the next shoot.

Ya I went up to Brown's Camp yesterday for awhile. Took a stack of .22's and my AR. Fun in the sun. I shoot there alot and have the different ranges down pretty good. So I like messin' with the folks that stop in to shoot. I can take my MKII off sand bags and hit the same stuff people are using rifles on. Fun fun fun. I still haven't taken my bench out since I finished working on it yet.

Yes it would. Need to pick up the guitar as much as I pick up my guns. Callouses are wearing out. :(
Bang, we're going to have to shoot again, minus Dumb and Dumber.
Shooter003 is having computer problems, so he's not responding here, but it was definitely a pleasure to shoot with that gentleman and yourself.
Let's let this thread flow on off into the sunset and die a natural death.
We'll start a new thread next shoot. Bang, feel free to PM me any M-F evening if you're interested in shooting indoors. Bring change for targets. They're dirt cheap and plentiful.
BluesBear, looking forward to meeting you.

Bang,
Those pics you posted aren't from the "dump", are they? I tried to find the "dump" one time and what I found looked totaly different.
Seems like where-ever that is, it's a nice shooting spot. Could I get directions?

Going to have to get together for another shoot here real soon.

I stopped by the Dump weekend before last because I had to go to Molalla for business and I hoped there would be some folks there shooting. I was able to squeeze my Suburban around the barricade and drive right up to the line. Even took a digital pic or two. Hopefully I can hook up with ya'll one of these days. See ya...
