Anyone own a Desert Eagle 1911 in either the G or C models?

I recently bought a Sig1911 C3 of which I'm really happy. However, I did rack the slide on both the G and C model DE 1911s. Very smooth slide with no discernable play, very good trigger for a 1911 <$700 but the sights were matte black and my old eyes couldn't see them well(no contrast). The G model had front cocking serrations and hardwood grips. The C model just the wood grips. Anybody shot either of these weapons. The only downside in my mind was the feed ramp was on the frame and not intergal with the barrel. The ramp also looked to be a prime candidate for a polish job. Any comments?

Almost all 1911s are made this way. Was the barrel throated at all?

For the money, I think they are one of the top 1911s on the market right now.

They are very similar to the pre series II Kimbers which have a solid reputation. A friend has both models. The G has been excellent while the C required re-tensioning of the extractor. Both are now very reliable.

The feed ramp is built after the traditional 1911 and should not require any modification. The angles are critical dimensions so be very careful when doing any modifications.

I have the full size(G) model. When I bought it I wasn't really expecting much(got a good deal used) but after some shooting I have to say I'm very impressed. I've only put 400-500 rounds through it but so far it has been perfect. No malfunctions and the gun is as accurate as you can get for the price. It also has one of the best triggers I've felt on a sub $1000 gun. A lot of people paint the front sight to take care of the contrast issue.
