Internet News Ignorance

Found this on Yahoo this evening:

Apparently a store in Iowa is offering a free gun to people who buy an engagement ring more than $1,999. The trouble is, the article muddles the description of the gun so much you can't really tell if it's a Remington 870 or something else. The writer actually described the Remington 870 as a "hunting rifle." The article also talks about Iowa being a "shall issue" state when the gun giveaway has nothing to do with handguns. :cuss:

You erred when misattributing the error and type. "Internet ignorance?" It wasn't an internet organization or Yahoo writer that called the Rem 870 a "hunting rifle." That was a KCRG TV station reporter. The information about it being a "hunting rifle" was simply a linked vid clip and not part of the actual article.

That irrelevant information was included isn't ignorance, just irrelevance.

Hmm.. A news article not knowing what they're talking about, who knew?

There is a jewelry store in Atlanta doing a similar promotion as well... Buy a ring for $2,499+ and get a free T/C Venture rifle. I like promotions like this, wish there was more like them.

Like buy a new truck get a free M&P Sport :D

Actually you are not getting a "free" anything with these promos, it is just an indication of their wildly inflated prices. Retailers don't offer things for sale in order to take a loss.
