Bipod for AR-15 - Which one to get?

Have been looking at Harris and Versa-Pod bipods for a AR and would like to know from those that use them - which do you like best or is there a third one you prefer?

I'm leaning to the Versa-pod because it has a small range of lateral movement. It ain't great looking but I could live with it. Comments anyone?

20 lb BAR, MG-34, M-1919. All of them benefit from a bipod. A 10 pound less AR, nope. I don't even like them on bolt actions now. I'll rest it on my knapsack first. Less bullk, weight and protrusions to snag on the brush when you're stalking.

Can't speak to the Versa...I've got the Harris on an AR. Very nice.

One problem...do you have a "standard" plastic forward grip on the AR? If so, adding the bipod is no problem. However, if you have a free floating forward grip, putting the bipod on it is tricky unless you have a good drill press and the skill to use it correctly...

Not sure what you mean by "lateral movement" with the Versapod.

Harris has a swivel version that allows the feet of the bipod to rest on an uneven surface while keeping the rifle vertical. I use one on my FAL sometimes and it works great.

Get the harris. It has better resale value if you decide that you don't really need a bipod for your AR.

Another vote for the Harris.

But another vote that a AR really don't need one unless you have a Varminter or something. 20" or less you just need a good sling and position.

I have one of the clip on models in case I need one in a pinch. Probably better off resting it on a bag or something, but it comes in handy on occasion.

The model I have is a 24" varmint - has a free float aluminum tube with a swivel ready to go. I won't be carrying it around much, mostly benchrest shooting at the range with the guys at work. I do have a prarie dog hunt scheduled soon so I plan on getting one this week. Thanks for the advice. Splat.

I vote for a Harris with the swivel option. (Low height is great for bench and prone).
