Hello all. ? concerning light rails for 1911's. Is there an after market rail that can be mounted on the underside of the frame? I see alot of the polymer framed weapons already have them as OEM and the new "custom" metal frames have them milled in. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

Cylinder and Slide just came out with one that wraps around the dust cover and attaches with four screws. Looks a bit clunky, but it should work.

The Dawson rail is far more streamlined and attractive, and I've never heard of a failure. But, you have to buy a Surefire light from them as they are specially modified to fit the light rail. At least, that's what I heard way back in the day. Things might have changed.

Do you want a rail, or do you want a light? If you just want a light, Surefire makes lights that don't need the rail.

I'm also looking at the Dawson for my Beretta 92.

Anyone have impressions of them?
Input?

Seems better than buying another weapon to get the rail (not that I'm totally opposed to that option :D )

Thanks,
