My 12 yr old daughter wants to try and take a deer later this season. I am considering letting her try my TC Prohunter 270 with managed recoil loads. I've ordered a box of Remmington 270 MR 115 gr Core Lokt to try out.
So I've just started researching it, thought I'd post here.
Anyone have any good load data on 270 managed recoil 115gr or similar bullets?Or any experience with the 270 MR for youths?
Thanks
DD

My 11 year old son shoots my old Ruger in 270 Win with a chopped down stock, he loves it.
I am loading him 19gr of IMR Trailboss under a Sierra 110gr ProHunter, this is his plinking load. I found the recipe from the Hodgdon's website here:

We just loaded up 50 for our next couple range outings then he will be stepping up to H4895, this will be for a deer hunting load. I have not decided if I will be going with 110gr or 130gr bullet yet. Here is the info for H4895

Good job on getting your daughter out shooting! Have fun!!

I've done a reduced recoil load for my 7yo using H4895 and she loves to shoot now. I have loaded well over 200 rounds for her and she goes through them very quickly at the range. I've had 0 issues out of them. She is now to a starting load using H4895. I'll probably be switching over to H335 soon since she shoots a .223.
She will hopefully be harvesting her first deer ever this coming weekend.

Don't know if your daughters size would work with a limbsaver recoil pad on the butt stock but they make a screw on version, fits perfect and really reduces the snap of any round.

I would use AA 5744 or SR 4759

They also make a recoil pad that's called The Shooters Friend. I got mine from Cabelas, and its about half the price of everything out there. It has reduced the felt recoil in my 7mm rem mag by at least 50%. It's a slip on gel type pad. It's great.
