Glock Magazine Question

I own a gen 4 Glock 23. It came with 3 mags, all function perfectly. One of them makes a rattling noise ONLY when it is fully loaded with 13 rounds of ammo, the other 2 do not do this. Is that anything to be worried about?

No my CZ mags do this as well. Just has to do with the round's orientation. Press slightly on the top round and the rattle goes away.

A few of mine rattle like that but over the decades it's never seemed to have any affect on functioning. I mark it up to manufacturing tolerances being a bit loose.

Glock magazines are not the only "rattlers" out there.

While I was cleaning the weapon, I unloaded the magazine, wiped down all of the ammo, and carefully loaded the magazine again ensuring every round was fully seated in the magazine. That seemed to fix the problem. The odd thing was that I have unloaded, then re-loaded the magazine several times before and it didn't fix the problem. Oh well

wiped down all of the ammo

Magazines and ammo like to run clean and dry. Overexposure to oil over time can seep into primers and render them ineffective. Just a cautionary note.

I can't say I've had my Glock magazines rattle, but this is very common in double-column mags that taper to a single at the top. Even then it takes a fairly vigorous shake to do it. When loaded in the gun, the pressure against the closed slide will stop the rattle, and even carrying a mag in a belt pouch will not make it rattle.

My G26 Gen 4 mags with pearce +2 mag extensions rattle, but only when fully loaded. The same mag without the +2 baseplate won't rattle. It's just the positioning of one of the rounds. I have tested extensively and never had a problem. See "Boiling Glock Mag" thread for some of the lengths I have gone to try and get rid of the problem.

It's very hard to make a magazine that won't rattle, ever, because the ammo isn't all exactly the same. You're putting 13 rounds of ammo in there, so you're stacking tolerances x 13.

Try a different brand of ammo, and your "bad" mag might not rattle, and the other two will.

Also, take one round out at a time, and see if they rattle. I bet even your "good" mags will rattle at certain loadings.

Take a toothpick and push on the rounds through the round indicator holes. This will tell you which ones are loose. It's still not going to help you fix anything though.

If they work and they drop free you're GTG.
