Let's see those deer tags full and pics to share. I'm not able to get out this season and need my fix vicariously through the rest of you....

When't out this morning. Some guy when't for a walk in front of my stand! Blaze orange head to toe with no gun. Needless to say this was not a successful morning.

When I get one I'll post some pics.

I shot a really nice sized spike buck, about 175 lbs. I shot him with my .270 Savage 111 with a 3x9 scope @ 377 yards! I didn't think it was that far until I paced it off. I was resting on a forked stick I had cut for a shot like this if it came up.
I figured he was about 300 yards. I had my zero at 200. So at 300 I should be 7" low. I thought he could be farther so I tried to hold 10"-12" above the heart, that way I would still hit the lungs if he really was only 300 yards. At 375 yards that bullet drops 16". I hit just to the front of the heart and down about 2" or so. I hit the front leg/lower shoulder and passed through the lower chest and out next to the opposite leg. He ran about 100 yards into the woods and laid down. I had left my rifle with my chair so I shot him with the .357 I was carrying.

I'll be posting something about the bullets I used and how they were disappointing.

Saturday at around noon. Quartering away with a Barnes TSX, Knocked him down in his tracks. Never before had I seen such a clean kill. He just dropped right there and never moved.

Many thanks for the pics. I wish I could manage getting out this year but it is not meant to be sadly.

I'll try to get some of ours up...not much to brag about, I missed one at about 300 yards, but our group got 4 total, a big-bodied buck with a small rack, a nice doe, a spike, and a yearling that was all chewed up by the wolves and to tired to even run away...

I don't think he got enough sleep Saturday evening this was him Sunday morning. The other pic is a doe my cousin shot out of my brothers stand Sunday afternoon.

He found the bullet in the hide passed through the right leg broke the bone near the joint then a rib and the heart.
