My advice? The DNR outdoor range at John's Mountain.
$5 to park, open 9AM to 5PM, Monday through Saturday. Closed Sunday.
100 yard range. Has a roof. Unsupervised. Markers at 10, 25, 50, 75, 100. PVC holes in the ground for target holders. Target holders are provided in the form of fairly straight branches. Bring your own staple gun.
I was there this past Saturday, and had a great time.
Drive ~30 miles up I-75N to Exit 320, GA136.
Turn left.
Drive 7-8 miles to the dead-end and turn right.
~100 yards on the right is a gravel road and a sign for the shooting range.
Follow the signs to the parking lot.

I haven't shot at Eds yet but they are friendly and the range looked pretty nice, Pannells is small, and poorly ventilated. The guys in the shop are super nice, but I do not care for their range.
I usually shoot at
Hot Shots Gun Shop & Shooting Range
2445 Austell Road, Ste B
Marietta Georgia 30008
www.hotshotsga.com
Very well lit and ventilated, but not really in Canton.
Its about 15 minutes from my office and its pretty easy to swing by there after work.

I am involved in the Action PIstol & Action Rifle events and am an IPSC shooter at IPSC sanctioned clubs, River Bend is a great place to practice for the real thing and have loads of fun.
