I can't find a replacement base pin latch for my ROA. Anyone know a source? I sent an email to Belt Mountain, they of course make the quick release version but they didn't offer up to make the original style.

A few months ago, the folks at Jack First Gunshop told me that they would be making some in about 6 months.
They said that they would cost about $50 each and would only be available with a blue finish. Call them about availability.

Ruger may actually have some of the base pin latch assemblies in stock but will only install it on guns that are sent in to them for repair. However, it may not be easy to verify whether they actually have it in stock or not without speaking directly to their repair department.
Ruger seems to be guarding their leftover parts like a mother hen so that they're not hoarded by a third party.

Unfortunately I need a SS version. I have a highly polished fixed sight ROA and the ball detent doesn't engage the frame. This causes it to move easily and it gets out of position all the time. I tried another base pin latch from one of my other ROA's and it works fine so it's just the tolerance of this particular pin latch.

I've come up with some round shims through McMaster Carr but they are expensive just to get one thin washer and they still need modified for the odd size Ruger uses (OD of .311-.315 and an ID of .250). I'm going to try and make one from some regular shim stock I have first to see if it will work.

Guess I should give Ruger a call just to see what they offer.

Ruger will indeed fix it and most likely for free.
BUT....they will only do it if you send them the gun.
They will not sell you any parts.
WARNING...if you have had any trigger work or other mods to the gun they will reverse it/them.
