A guy I know from my lgs gave me his CH 444H press today, he says he hasn't used it since the 70's and wanted to see it go to a good home where it would get some use. I've heard that these are very well made presses and I can tell by the workmanship that it is first rate. I think that I will get many many hours of enjoyment out of this one. It's definately an upgrade from my lee challenger and lee turret press.

Never herd of ch4d but, all the items in the catalog look like good stuff, think I might have to try some of it out.

I have been in your shoes a time or two in the past. It is a good feeling when somebody gifts a tool to you that they know you can use. Make sure to say "thank you" on several occasions and talk about how good it works etc.:)

Obviously the person who gave it to you, likes you.

I guess you get what you sow.

Nice!

Most of my equipment has been given to me:

Rockchucker single stage, dies, bullets, brass, primers, powders, and many rifles/pistols/revolvers have been given to me by my FIL so we can share a hobby (awesome guy that I'm blessed to know).

Then, a coworker that use to do some competitive shooting gave me his Casting Furnace, Moulds, Lubrisizer, and manuals to get me into bullet casting (he wanted to pass it onto a younger generation).

This has enabled me to pass the hobby/skills/interests onto my children...

Our love for firearms must be passed on.

The deal was I get it out of his basement and out of his way before he moves and it's mine, I thanked him twice so far today but I think I need to do so again as soon as I see him. I also got a bunch of other stuff with it too a set of CH .357 dies, CH .44 mag dies, CH .45acp dies, CH powder measure with a whole set of powder bushings, 200 speer .357 158gr. JHP's, 500 .357 158gr. LRN's, several hundred pieces of once fired .357 brass, several hundred pieces of once fired .44 mag brass, 500 .430 240gr LSWC's, a whole bunch of mtm ammo boxes, 2 unopened lbs of unique, one unopened lb of bullseye, a rcbs kinetic bullet puller which works awesome by the way, and I don't even know what else I'm still going through the boxes. One thing is for sure though this guy is awesome.

That is a very good press, on par with Forster products...

Wow I never would have guessed it but I was just on CH4D's site looking at a primer feeder for my press, and found out there only about 60 miles from me.

I have a '444', which I picked up from their factory. It's a great semi-progressive for small batches.

CH claims a maximum output of 200 rds/hr on the 444, I got a good rhythm down last night and loaded 175 .357's in an hour and fifteen minutes. I guess there estimate isn't too far off after all. I could probably go a little faster with the auto primer feed. I'll have to get to my lgs after work and pick up 2 rcbs #27 shellholders so I can load some .40 S&W tonight.

Kyle, go only as fast as you can and still produce that ammo SAFELY. (which I'm sure you know already) I can safely load between 180 to 200 rounds of handgun ammo per hour on my 4 hole turret press. I never try to increase the loads or cut the time. I get what I get as long as it's done correctly...

Again, very nice press...
