a week or so ago i was shooting at an indoor range with a guy who was shooting these......i honestly thought he was shooting a pellet gun. they are pretty darn quiet.

Until this question, I was unaware of the new ammunition. I have used the CCI Long CB caps and in a long barreled rifle they are silent. This ammuntion is loaded to similar velocity but uses a heavier bullet. Accuracy may be better. I will get a couple of boxes and see.

The CCI brag sheet claims 1/4 the noise level of high velocity ammunition. Testing will tell.

I use a Ruger M77/22 with a 27 1/2" barrel for testing 22 LR ammunition. In my Winchester 1890 (24"barrel), the CB caps were a bit louder but not enough for neighbors to notice.

They will not cycle a semi-auto but they are quiet. Very quiet. Best in a bolt action long gun.

I have a RWS 350 pellet gun. While shooting that and a CZ452 ultra lux using the quiets, the pellet gun is louder.
I only ever shot the pellet gun out back but after I got the quiets we started shooting the rimfires. My rear
neighbor heard the .22 and thought we were shooting bb/pellet guns out back and he was in his yard no more than
20 feet from where we were shooting.

I have a couple boxes. They are not as quiet as the Aguila Subsonic but they are still quiet. In a long barrel rifle they are really quiet. As others have said, I have yet to find a semi automatic that they cycle in.

They are real quiet. I almost thought I wasted money on a suppressor when I shot them the first time. They drop about 1' at 50 yards compared to the regular cheap stuff I shoot.

Depends a great deal on barrel length from my experience.

The Quiets are quiet (quieter than my 2 pellet guns), but they won't run my suppressed Ruger Charger or the semiauto pistols. OTOH, the new GEMTECH .22s are as quiet as the Quiet and will run all my silenced guns. I will say either the Quiets or the GEMTECHs (not to mention the CB caps) are DARN QUIET out of my T/C Contender 18-inch barrel!

Not as quiet as Aguila Super Colibri...

I did a completely unscientific test a gew weeks ago with a spl meter comparing them to CB shorts in a bolt action mossberg. They are quiet, but the CB shorts are a little more quiet by a few Db. Moth are on par with a pellet gun. The CB shorts i've been shooting are so quiet that sometimes the impact of the bullet into wood is louder than the report.

I agree with Salmoneye.....Super Colibre are as quiet as a mouse out of a rifle. They are half the weight but still kill vermin effectively. Just test them and make sure they come out the business end of your rifle.

The Quiet ammo is one quarter louder than the Super Colibre in my guns. However the CCI Quiet runs a 40 grain pill at 710 FPS, giving it more energy on the target. I don't take chances shooting vermin I always head shoot them....don't want them running off to the neighbors yard/house.

For head shots the Super Colibre out of a rifle never let me down, and the neighbors are none the wiser for it.

If you want a slow bullet that is also much lighter in weight buy the super colibre or one of the like ro8unds from remmy. If you want a 40gr bullet that works very well for small game hunting AND can be way easier to find now try the cci quiet's. The BD level is said to be 64 db.

The "quiets" can or may work in some older well used semi-autos. My wifes 10/22 custom still has the stock recoil spring from 1974 in it and does cycle them ever time. My 10/22 custom has a new kidd light spring made for supressed rounds and will not cycle enough. Son-in-laws new marlin 795 will not even open the bolt.

And as Remllez head shots work just fine.

They are quiet and work great when I shoot them out of my Marlin XT-22 bolt action rifle. They work good out of my Taurus 94 revolver. However they are a bit louder out of a hand gun.

They are very, very quiet. But if shooting out of a longer barrel, 24"+, be cautious, I have read some reports of some not making it out the end of the barrel by a few inches. I bought some to shoot in my CZ Ultra Lux. After reading about the lack of exit, I shot no more from my UL.

Are they quieter than regular subsonic 22 ammo? Is this something new or is it just their version of subsonic?

I saw these at Academy a couple of days ago but had never heard of them. Then I found this thread and went just a couple of hours ago and bought 5 boxes. I then went to my buddies house a couple of miles away and we managed to shoot a few before it got dark.

They are quiet. Not as quiet as the 29gr CCI CB caps but I like them a whole lot better. The 40gr bullet is better suited to the 1/16 twist in most rifles. I was shooting a Rem 581 with a 24" barrel. There was no problem with them making it out of the barrel. I was shooting at a steel plate about 15 yards away and they were blown apart on impact as far as I can tell.

I have stuck a Super Colibri in a barrel before and I will NOT ever shoot them in a rifle again. I have seen them just sorta flop out the end of the barrel. The quiet Bullets should do just fine. I also like the Remington CeeBee 22 loads. They cost more but come with a really good hollow point and kill rabbits like crazy.

For the $2.99 price they are worth trying a couple of boxes to see if you like them. I bet you will.

GSPN as far as I can tell they are a little quieter than subsonic 22s. I haven't shot but a small amount of it a long time ago so I am guessing a little bit here. I don't regret getting some of it and will pick up another 5 boxes or so next time I am at Academy.

they are much quieter than regular subsonic ammo.....if i had to hazard a guess, ide be willing to bet they make about 1/3 the noise of a regular subsonic .22

I shot the CB longs and the .22 quiets side by side out of a T/C .22 single shot rifle and the CB long won by a noticable difference.

I think the CB long even beats the Gamo whisper with its louder .22 slugs.

viking 499 I have also shot a few box's thru a 25" barrel rem 511P and chrony'd them. Velocity is lost but not by much so shot away in long barrels. Still over 700fps.

I'm not sure about the 'quiet' stamped box, but I use some CCI subsonic 40gr segmented hollow points in an old Remington Sport Master rifle for back yard squirrels and it's as quiet as an air rifle and blows them apart.

I think they're pretty much the same as the 'quiet' stamped ones, but not positive.

I tested about 20 of these with a decibel meter through a rifle. My overall average was 94 decibels. I think I got a bad batch. CCI states 68 decibels on the box. Remington Subsonics are more quiet. I'm going to try a different box but Aguila seems to be the best.

I can watch their trajectory through my riflescope as they fly into the target.

I bought some because I liked that the overall length matched that of the "regular" .22 LR ammo.
It actually cycled about 15% of the time in my Mark II, and about 30% of the time in my friend's SR22.
It wasn't super quiet in the pistols, but when I shot them through my 18" Savage bolt-action, it was barely louder than a pellet gun.
All in all, good stuff.

They are as quiet as a high powered air rifle, when the CCI's are fired out of a rifle.
They are not particularly quiet in a revolver, I still wear ear protection.

jhco How about the 40gr bullet. CB ain't got that. They make a better hunting round with higher energy .

After seeing this thread I picked up a few boxes to try. As I live with horses all around me these would be great for small varmints. I shot about 20rd.s as I didn't have much time. They were shot out of a standard 10/22. They sounded like a pellet gun. I have a friend that owns a SBR, w/ supposer on it useing subsonic loads it is not much quiter than the rounds fired from my 10/22. I like these new rounds & will use them often. Good move on CCIs part.

If memory serves, Ryan Gresham measured some at around 106-107 dB - about the same as CB.

Tried some of these in my Buckmark definitely more quiet than Rem "subsonic's", but do not cycle.

I watched a video that showed the sound rating of the CCI quiet coming out of a Ruger 10/22. Sound was rated between 65 and 70 dB which is on the louder but still tolerable end of conversation noise.

Hs anyone fired them through a can yet? I'd like to see how quiet they would be through my suppressed Savage bolt gun.

I saw these on TV the other day...Tom Gresham's show. They compared to regular low power .22 for sound and velocity. Essentially the same. The CCI was a little slower, same noise level.

They are no more or less quiet than the CB that they have made forever. Just new marketing I Guess.

Marketing is always part of the equation. But the important thing about the is that they are Long Rifles with a 40 gr bullet.

I read that the accuracy is fairly good overall.

Marketing helps but people think with their wallets more. The CCI Quiet came out at SHOT show 2012, so almost a year old. Most online retailers carry it for about $3 for 50. I plan to get some so I can do some small rodent hunting in the backyard.

For those that watch them on tv or go buy what some one else said till YOU buy a box as try them in a rifle for yourself you are second quessing. Spend a couple bucks and see for your slef and don't talk about the sound from a pistol. Even a CB short is deemed loud from a short barrel handgun.

I'm sticking with Rem Low Noise .22LRHP as they are 250fps faster, actually expand a little and function all semi autos I have tried them in. They are 30% louder than the CCI Quiet which are CB like in power IMHO and do not cycle semi autos. Same price too! http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1601383954/remington-ammunition-22-long-rifle-subsonic-38-grain-lead-hollow-point
Uh Oh , looks like the old Subsonics have been dropped for these:

Midwayusa has 500 round bricks for $26. I ordered 2 for myself last night and will see how they perform. Thats the cheapest i have found anywhere. I figured they were worth a try.
