I want to get into this hobby and am having a hard time finding places where I can build a complete and functioning AR. Not into comps, just wanna have fun with the guys at the range. Maybe chase a few coyotes around this winter. SO just needing a nice and reliable AR at a fair price.

Suggestions?

Del ton midlength upper or bushmaster 20" predator upper. Go to Brownells or Kerri's guns for a complete lower or you can order the lower stripped and build it yourself. For a carbine start with an h buffer or if using an a2 stock get a complete kit. The uppers are on gun broker. The lower you have to have shipped to an ffl for transfer.

In addition look at one of the above suppliers for the complete mil spec stock kit to combine ship and don't forget a mag.

I have experience with these uppers. One would shoot 1" groups at 100 yds, the other was better. I can't guarantee they all shoot like that but this is what I have seen.

When you say build...what do you mean? Buy upper and low, push two pins together, have a rifle? Or do you really mean you want to build one up from the basic parts?

Why do you want to build/assemble a rifle vs buying a complete product?

Model 1 sales has excellent kits for a little over 500.00 Find a stripped lower for under a hundred and you are in buisness. I have done 4 of their rifles and all were great.

Get used to it. The situation was bad before last week, and it's really bad now. DSA's back order was 4-6 weeks when I ordered in October; It's 10-12 weeks as of today.

That said, my suggestion is to assemble a lower and buy a complete upper. Assembling lowers is a cinch, and while uppers aren't particularly difficult, you won't be able to buy the individual parts for less than a pre-built unit.

Also, if you're wanting a title I 16" rifle, I would strongly recommend mid length over carbine. Used to be just Armalite, then RRA got on board. Now, pretty much every outfit is offering a middy upper, and there's a good reason.

Assuming the World doesn't end this year things should improve in 6 months or so.
I would keep an eye on your local gun shops and get a S&w Sport complete now cause you can't afford to wait around for accumulating parts and pieces.

Here is a lower and complete lower.

And a number of complete uppers.

Why not just buy a complete rifle? All the gun stores I've been to (even post-election) have been very well stocked in the AR department. Even Walmart sells ARs. Its definitely the easiest way to get into an AR right now with parts in such short supply.
