Brenneke KO's in Rifled Barrel

So, I recently put together a slug gun. It's an H&R Pardner Pump with a rifled slug barrel. I've been reading up on sabot slugs and decided to pick up 4 boxes of Hornady slugs. Took them and the gun to the range today to get sighted in. These things just flat out wouldn't shoot out of my gun. I was getting 6"+ groups at 50yds.

So, I was getting ready to pack it up and realized I had 2 boxes of KO's in my bag from the last 3-gun competition I shot. I figured it couldn't hurt since it says on the box that there good for smooth and rifled barrels. After a few rounds I was getting a ragged fist size hole at 50 yards with them. Anyone else find that these work really well in a rifled barrel?

Thanks
Adam

How much is your barrel leaded up now?

It got pretty gnarly, I won't lie. But, I hope I won't have to fire more than 1 shot, so leading wont be an issue.

If I were going to shoot a rifled barrel in a shotgun, I'd experiment till I found a brand/load of sabot slug that particular barrel shot well, rather than run rifled slugs through it. But YMMV...

I definitely plan on finding a sabot it likes. Deer opens this Saturday, so I may be rolling with the KO's this year and finding a sabot it likes for next season.

What is the going price for the K.O. slugs these days? Last time I bought some they were about $3 a box IIRC.

I paid $4.50 last time I bought them. That was about a week ago.

I sure wish I could find some here. I don't know what it is about this partricular part of GA. Everytime I ask about them people look at me like I'm from outer space. Their reply is hmmm I've never heard of em' before:(

They shoot great in my rifled Mossberg. Those and Remington Buckhammers will do about 2" at 75yds. I haven't seen much leading at all.

Lead comes out with a little scrubbing.

I love the buckhammers. It's a shame they were discontinued. They shot great out of everything I shot them out of.

Buckhammers definitely lived up to their name...sad they are discontinued.

The Rottweil Laser Plus Sabot Slugs (Saying "Laser" in my best Dr. Evil voice) are very similar to the Buckhammers and are available here:

For the Brenneke KOs in the rifled barrel, a 12 Gauge Bore Brush wrapped with Chore Boy Copper Pot Scrubber will get the lead out in a jiffy.

Just my .02,
