Tell me about your I.O. AK experience.

I'm curious. I keep running into the occasional reference to I.O. AK's and it seems like people have a generally poor opinion of them
I've had over a dozen AK's: too many WASR's, 4 or 5 Saiga's that I've converted, someone's other convertion (think it was a Hesse), had a beautiful Armory USA Bulgarian AK (was the best one) and now have an I.O. AK that is a close second to my Bulgarian AK. My I.O. operates flawlessly, fit and finish look better than the Saiga's I've had, and I like the idea of having a US made receiver and barrel. I've got no complaints with the thing (other than it NOT having a scope mount rail on the side), and don't know if I got lucky with a good one and they usually have problems or what?
Based on my experience with my I.O. AK, I'd recommend one.

So, what am I missing? Other's having problems with them? Tell me about yours.

I handled one once, a Polish sporter. Both the dustcover and the gas tube were very loose that I don't think I could ever be satisfied with that quality.

ak builds are contracted out if you got a good builder you have a good gun. If it shoots 6IN. groups at 100yds. and you paid 500.00 or less you did good. If you paid 1200.00 you got Arssssenaled.

I was really looking forward to owning an I.O., even though I've read some bad reviews. When my FFL got some wood sporters in I was sold! Had that sar-1 look to it. Took it out to shoot it the next day, then it went downhill! After the third shot the trigger access pins came out. After putting the pins and Sheppard hook back in, it still felt little loose, but worked. Popped off 30 rounds, then found the butt stock loose. Tighten ,fire ten rounds, tighten fire ten rounds was the pattern. Finally got some locktight to work. Loose foregrip and gas tube wood is pretty loose also . Now its working but i'm getting trigger slapped? It is pretty accurate though! Also thought the internals were dirty for a "New" gun. I'm questioning many of the parts for surplus used . Other than the dimples on the receiver, I would choose my WASR over the I.O. I know I didn't buy a custom build, but I was expecting more for $650 worth of American made rifle!

geez. I was on the fence too. glad I ordered the Saiga.

I like Saiga's, all the ones I've converted we all reliable and fairly accurate. Just seems like this I.O. I have is just a hair better. I must have been lucky and got a good one.
