Does anyone use match sights on their defensive AR? Or has anyone put match sights on and gone back to standard sights?

Why or why not? What are your thoughts? I'm thinking a match front sight post might be too fragile for defensive use.

I'd be more worried with the small aperture on the rear. Nery hard to see through, and seriously reduces the amount of light getting to the eye in the dark. If its an adjustable diopter sight, then there is the risk of the aperture being clamped down rather than wide open when you need it.

Wont the front sight post be proteced by the ears? Or do you have a completely different front sight?

I'd be more worried with the small aperture on the rear.

The nice thing about the match sights that I have, is that the rear sight has the standard large aperture, and a smaller-than-standard small aperture.

The front is protected by the ears, but it appears that if an impact force were applied at JUST the right angle, that it could damage the front post.

Considering the aperture on my Service Rifle has an optical aid in it, no.

I would use a match base with a standard aperture for self defense use though.
