birddog2 November 15, 2012, 07:36 PM Just picked up one in really good shape for a Ruger LCP and a 100.00? Hope I got a decent deal. I was looking for more info and thoughts good or bad.
Adj sights, 38 cal, 6" barrel, square butt, 6 shot. Serial #12k6xxx.
Thanks!

pharmer November 15, 2012, 07:58 PM I'd make that deal any day. Small world, the top 14-3 is factory single action and has a ser# of 12K66xx. Middle is a 14-3 with a 1K ser#, bottom is a 14-5. Can you tell I'm a 14 fan? Joe

Starter52 November 15, 2012, 09:38 PM birddog, FYI your S&W left the factory in 1977.
1 old 0311-1 November 15, 2012, 09:50 PM You did REAL good.
bikemutt November 15, 2012, 10:26 PM That would be petty theft around here, excellent deal. You won't be disappointed with your side of the transaction.
Guillermo November 16, 2012, 01:08 AM Good Deal?
That is an AMAZING deal
forindooruseonly November 16, 2012, 01:58 AM I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.
BTW pharmer, I had no idea that a model 14 ever came with a full underlug barrel. That's pretty awesome!
Iggy November 16, 2012, 12:11 PM Model 14s? I have a 14 and a 17 for each of my 3 grand kids. That should set them up for years and years of fun and practical shooting.
They don't come any better.
I'd say you did just fine.
Guillermo November 16, 2012, 12:43 PM Starter,
They quit producing the 14 in 1982
It was reintroduced, I think in 1991, with the full underlug
Walkalong November 16, 2012, 06:12 PM I want a full underlug 4". I must have one. The 6" is nice, but a hair muzzle heavy to suit me. :)
As others have posted, ya did just fine, just fine. I love shooting my 6" 14-3. It is one I have had longer than most others.

Good luck finding one. They made a few 4". I've never seen one in person. Joe
bikemutt November 16, 2012, 07:23 PM I'd make that trade in a heartbeat.

I spotted one at a LGS recently, very nice condition, $999. Too rich for me.
Flint Ridge November 16, 2012, 10:11 PM You are really going to like that one!

birddog2 November 18, 2012, 07:10 PM Has anyone had any problems with (so called +p ammo) in these. S&W won't reply to an E-Mail, I'm sure for liabilty reasons. I'm sure factory ammo in 1977 was +p by today's standards. Thought's?
Thanks
bikemutt November 18, 2012, 07:41 PM S&W states what ammo is suitable to shoot in the guns they sell. There is nothing in it for them to say go ahead and shoot something else.
If +P is nothing but yesterday's +0 you should be good to go. Not saying it is, but I've heard it is.
