Slow motion video of Soda being shot a comparison

Hi Guys,

My buddy Chris and I made a few quick video clips comparing what various caliber rifles would to a standard can of soda in slow motion. We started with a .22lr then worked our way to 9mm, .223rem, 7.62x39, 30-06 and 12ga slug so that we could get a comparison of what effect each would have

The guns used were
.22rl CZ 452
9mm Kel Tec Sub2000
.223rem CZ 527 Varmint
7.62x39 CZ 527 Carbine
30-06 Parker Hale
12ga Mossberg

The close up slow motion was with a Gopro2. We have a Gopro3 on order and will be able to do a lot better slow motion video when that arrives.

Interesting.

You ought to spell out "frames per second". "fps" to most shooters means "feet per second".

The comparison on the videos do not make sense otherwise.

The several videos I looked at all had a title added over the picture at the beginning of the video that said...

"9mm vs soda can at 120fps" or something to that effect.

It was a bit confusing at first because 22LR, 12 ga slug, 9mm, 7.62x39, etc all said "at 120 fps". All those different projectiles could not be hitting the cans at 120 feet per second.

I just thought clarifying what the "fps" meant was reasonable. Maybe it does not mean "frames per second". I doubt it means "feet per second" of the projectile.

Well, based on your results and the fact that a squirrel is about the size of those cans, I'd conclude that a .30/06 might be a trifle too much gun for squirrels! :D

I knew that. But people do shoot squirrels and rabbits with 12 gauges and what that one did to the can was an eye opener. Pretty sobering.

I like it !! THanks for the effort and for posting it. I thought it was pretty cool.

Sorry about the confusion with the FPS = Frames per second thing.

We realized it might be an issue only after we had processed all the video. Next time we will be mark it as Frames/sec.
