FMP G3/H&K 91 Problem

Ok so I just purchased this rifle from a person that I trust, I was originally waiting and saving for a PTR 91 but he offered this rifle at the same price and it already had the paddle magazine release installed, as well as a fresh duracoat finish. So I took it home and took it apart and cleaned it. Took it to the range loaded up a H&K G3 Alum magazine with Pri .308 and attempted to put the weapon into battery...:banghead: nothing the round did not feed, the bolt hit the round pushed it forward a little bit and stopped. So I ejected the round and tried again... same thing. :banghead::banghead::cuss:
Long story short I still can not get it to feed a round. I heard that if you weld a spacer in the back of the magazine well and cut a portion off the front of the well off that it will feed better. Not sure I want to under take a welding and dremeling job with out trying something else out first. Any other ideas????????

If its someone you trust, I would guess you know him well enough that he would give you your money back, knowing he sold you a gun that didnt work.... If it doesnt feed at all, I would say that he knew that when he sold it to you, unless he never tried to load it the entire time that he had it...

Try another mag. The HK experts can be found at http://www.hkpro.com/forum/

Are you letting the bolt slingshot closed, or are you easing it down? Easing it down is the wrong way to do it, either slingshot it or hit it with the HK slap. The HK slap is locking the charging handle back, then simply slap it to release the bolt and load the weapon.
Check the chamber for debris

Yeah I am definetely doing the H&K slap one of the reasons why I love H&K. Will try some other mags that I am going to borrow from a friend that used to have one, see if that helps.

Weak mainspring. Robert RTG parts has the rear stock socket/mainspring for a reasonable price. What it sounds like to me. Don't go trimming on the magwell just yet.

Take it to a real HK gunsmith.
A real HK91 is worth 3x what a PTR-91 is

It is not a real HK91, it is a Portuguese made FMP (slg-95?). I didn't see a model number, so I couldn't tell you if it was imported as a complete gun, a bare receiver, or somewhere in between.
Is the magazine marked anywhere and, if so, what does it say? Hk marks all of their mags, as does FMP.

Without seeing it, my guess is the bolt face is slightly striking the rear of the magazine on either side. Striking the mag, even just slightly, will cause the bolt to push back onto the locking piece, forcing the rollers out ever so slightly, which will hit the trunnion and fail to lock into battery.
Usually, when you pull the bolt handle back in this condition, there is nothing to unlock the rollers, so you will continue to have this problem until you force the bolt fully forward. Usually a flat-blade screwdriver through the magwell will pop it to the fully unlocked position. Just wedge it in at the bolt gap and force it open all the way.
When this happens, usually the receiver is just slightly wider than it should be, allowing too much play in the bolt/bolt carrier as it slides back and forth inside the receiver. Generally the rails inside are at a loose tolerance, but if they're too loose, the bolt can walk side-to-side during cycling, causing it to strike the back of the magazine as I mentioned earlier.
Luckily, if this is the problem, this can easily be fixed by clamping the receiver into a vice and squashing it together enough to keep the bolt more better aligned. Squash it too much though, it will bind the bolt during recoil...

Yay. A simple fix works wonderfully!
Other than that, how do you like your rifle?
