No photos taken today, sorry.

Due to friends wanting to take a stab at it, I didn't get a whole lot of opportunity to shoot the thing, but my impression was of a rifle quite composed.

First, the iron sights were zero'd as far as I could tell at 100 yards on clay pigeons as it came out of the box. Nice touch, SIG.

The Vortex Sparc sight is the first red dot I have mounted on a rifle, and it was really sweet for up close things, but not so good at distance.

The rifle itself is well balanced, with no discernible recoil, no jams, no misfeeds no issues whatsoever in perhaps 250 - 300 rounds fired in all. Even a mag dump doesn't get the plastic fore end even warm to the touch.

We shot 55 grain hand loads without any problems, and some 40 or 45 grain Winchester soft points without issue. The Winchesters caused me some initial concern, as the soft lead point has to be nearly 1/2 the length of the ogive, sort of like the old 125 grain hollow points were on 357 magnums, and I was concerned that they would jam into the feed ramp and deform and not feed. This concern did not pan out, much to my relief and confusion. I say confusion because another contributor on the forum and myself have been exchanging impressions of these rifles, and his would not feed soft points at all, while mine did not exhibit any issue whatsoever.

My impression of the rifle was that it was loafing, not even trying hard. I have to shoot it some more before I feel that I have a handle on the thing, but my initial impressions are favorable.

my initial impressions are favorable.

I understand that. I shot a friends 556 Classic (http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=165182&d=1338167223) and just had to have one. I had an old Nikon red dot (http://www.thehighroad.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=165183&d=1338167223) that works great on it. You can use it with the irons if you want to. It is both very accurate and dependable, but the best thing I can say about it is that it is easy to shoot well, both folded and extended. Superb rifle.
