Was the Vietnam era Case Bowie longer than the one offered now? The modern knife has a 9 1/2 inch blade, and I remember the older ones having a blade closer to 12 inches.....maybe more.

No, the Case Bx54, V-44 (or Bushman) started out in WWII, and had a 9 1/4" blade from then on, as far as I know.
They were about just like this 9 3/8" Kenfolks V-44.
