I have always liked the Tomcat's ergonomics. The originals had some problems, but I am encouraged by the many recent happy reports. I shop the local pawn and gun shows. I need so information about the Tomcat.
o What is the widebody frame and when did it begin?
o The Inox and Blue'd guns are lighter then the ti gun...14.5 vs 16.5. Is this due to the thicker slide?
o What should look for in buying a used Beretta, or just get new?
Thanks,
tjg

I started seeing the "widebodies" last year. I have 2 cousins that bought them then...one blue, one inox. I like the blue one more for some reason.
These guns are relatively inexpensive & because of that, I'd get a new one.

1. The "Wide Body" Tomcat has a thicker slide (not frame) to reduce the slide velocity and strengthen against possible cracking fro shooting the newer "high-performance" .32 loads.
I got my Tomcat Inox WB in December of 2001, so it was before that when the WBs became available.
2. I can't help with this question...I'm clueless about the weight of any model.
3. I bought mine new. A little pricey...but I have peace of mind as where care of the weapon is concerned.

I got an INOX WB in December of 2000 when I lived in the PRK. I got a good deal on it. The dealer was getting rid of all of them because at the time, the Tomcat had not made it on to the PRK's "approved" pistol list which started 1/1/2001 and Beretta wasn't sure they were going to submit it for testing. Subsequently they did and the price went back up. I saved $60 and have been happy with it. Don't ever dry fire it and keep it clean and it should work for you.
