My friend's 511 Scoremaster has a problem with the bolt coming out during normal use. I took a look at it for him, cleaned everything and checked to make sure there were no parts missing. He had jammed the magazine so I freed it and set it in the well properly and the problem seemed to be fixed until I racked the bolt rapidly. Does anybody have any ideas for solving this problem or is the solution to just be gentle with it? This is a very old gun. Feel free to reply directly to me at lowcountryfire@gmail.com if you like, or through this thread.

Thanks.

The sear in that gun holds the firing pin cocked but also works the other way to retain the bolt so you have to retract the bolt then pull the trigger to remove it.

It sounds like wear on the sear, the bolt, or both, or something is not working right, possibly due to improper assembly. Those are very well made guns and will normally work for about ever if not tampered with.

Check www.gunpartscorp.com for parts if you can figure out what is wrong.

Check the sear pivot screw in the receiver- It's the rear one on the left side and is staked in place. If its to tight the sear wont pivot. But most likely it the sear or the bolt body worn or chipped. The sear can be replaced separately but you will have to re- rivet it or buy a trigger assembly.

Thanks to both of you for your input. Since it's a new trigger assembly that just leaves the bolt as the problem. It's pretty beat up!
