476 grain cast bullet over 65 grains of Goex FFg. About a 40 yard shot. Clean pass through, low lung shot, but oddly, he didn't leave a blood trail. He ran about 50 yards before I found blood, then it was very sparse. Finally found him about 30 yards from the last drop of blood.

Nice Buck, looks like a scrapper with one of his G1s broken off. It is amazing how you can shoot a deer with a boomer like a .45-70 and not have a bigger blood trail.

Good job.

Just my .02,

Congrats Pulp!

For some reason I love those H&R single-shots.!!??!!
I have them in .204; .30-06; 12ga rifled slug(X3); 12ga shotgun.

I shot a buck once with my .54Hawken that left no blood trail. Luckily he ran across a freshly worked open field and I watched him go down. Had I been in the woods, I might never have known that I had hit him. Sometimes hide/muscle pretty well close the entry and exit wounds I guess.

Anyway, congrats again on a nice buck....and a nice rifle.
