Picked up a NIB Baby Eagle in 45 today on a trade. All steel, safety decock, full size grip but more compact (just under 4") barrel/slide, etc. NIB with warranty and from a Davidson's Dealer so includes that warranty as well. Won't get a chance to range it (test fire) until Sunday.

Anyone have any experience about these...the good, bad, the ugly.

Do have other reliable firearms so if it turns out to be a bad choice it is not the end of the world. Choices were rather limited to mostly Glock or Ruger with a few Beretta's and some Taurus Milin. Line. Otherwise it was mostly 1 of these and 1 of those (in reality..choices were quite limited and seems inventory levels locally are very low...is there something I don't know about and people are in a buying frenzy?). Anyway, literally stumbled across this and it fit my hand very well, points quite naturally for me, is a 10 shot 45, and the dealer made an honest blue book trade (rare around here...most will burn you on trade in value quite badly).

Thanks for any input.

From what I gather they are hit or miss.
Reliability issues in some... Others work just fine and are great sidearms.

I've sent an email to Magnum Research about the Baby Eagle in 45acp and problems with reliability. They said that the reliability issues are due to the magazines and I'm guessing that they should have new fixed magazines.

Well...can't get to the range until Sunday to test it. Being new I am guessing there is a good chance I have the newer mag (read somewhere else that they originaly shipped with bad mags a while back that were idenitified by a colored follower..mine is black..don't know for sure if that is true though).

The handgun does appear to be very well built so I don't believe if there are problems that they are intentional...if there are probs I would expect it to be a quality control problem. Again, a guess.

Will test fire Sunday with about 100 rounds. Hopefully things will go smoothly. If they do, will slowly shoot 100 rounds per range session until I get well over 500 trouble free until I decide to bet my life on it. If there are probs it is under warranty with Magnum Research and with Davidson's.

I have been pretty lucky so far. I like the feel of this better than anything else I have or have tried so I hope that luck hasn't run out.

Thank you for e-mailing Magnum. That was cool. :)
