Hi guys, need some info please. I am in process of getting a suppressor and putting it in a trust. Next if I move from Ms. to Tn. do I need to do anything? I want to be legal. Thanks Mac

You need to notify ATF of permanent interstate moves with a suppressor. Just send a letter to the NFA branch.

Thanks Turtlephish, I was wondering if I was going to get any feedback. I had searched a bunch before asking. Thanks again Mac

You are not required to notify BATFE when transporting Noise Suppressors and Any Other Weapons to another state.

Prior to transporting, you are required to get BATFE approval in order to transport a Destructive Device or Machine Gun or Short Barrel Rifle or Short Barrel Shotgun to another state.

ATF Form 5320.20 (http://www.atf.gov/forms/download/atf-f-5320-20.pdf) is used to apply for BATFE approval to transport.

Quiet, those rules apply for a temporary move. If it's a permanent change of address, notification is required.

Quiet,

No, but the NFRTR has to be changed and it is not a good idea to fail to notify BATFE of the change of address (intrastate or interstate) and have them find out later. And why not? Encoreman will have a registered suppressor, so it is not like he is trying to conceal anything or run away from the law.

TurtlePhish,

The form itself says it applies only as Quiet says, and specifically does NOT mention suppressors.

FWIW, the Form 4 transfer approval includes authorization to transport/ship intrastate or interstate.
