After posting the below, I browsed around and found the answer in another post, which leads to: http://hodgdon.com/PDF/Trail%20Boss%20Reduced%20Loads%20R&P.pdf where Hodgdon explains how to determine max and minimum loads for any rifle cartridge. The simple answer is that there is no way to overload. I would delete this post if I knew how, but I can edit it, so I did.

What I asked:
============================================================================
I know, slow pistol powders such as AA5744, IMR4227, and AA#9 will work far better, but that is what I intend to demonstrate. The fellow who made these 140 gr. cast bullets for me maintains that he gets excellent results using Trail Boss, and insists it is the best choice.

In exchange for these bullets, I promised to load up various charges using Trail Boss and one of the slower powders to do accuracy comparisons.

The problem is, while I know how much Trail Boss this friend uses, I am reluctant to even start there, without having a reliable source to refer to; preferably with some pressure data or at least good guesses. There is plenty of good information out there for the slower powders.

Any suggestions where to look for reliable load data for Trail Boss in Swedish Mauser cases?

Thanks,
Lucs

I tried Trail Boss in my 6.5x55mm Swede Mausers and in a 30-06 1903A3 Smith Corona. Heck I even tried it in my 45-70s..

I found it to be dirty and have a wide enough velocity variation that the groups were horrible.

When I tried it with my 22 Hornet, I ended up with a bullet stuck in the barrel.

AA-5744 is much better....

Gun Info 1903A3 Smith Corona Comment Had to put A# sight to top notch and then aim at the top of the black to get near the center. NO RECOIL, but fairly dirty load.
