I have some brass that I picked up at the range and it is stamped 7.62-m1a, fc 11. I know it's military 308 and made by federial, but the 7.62-m1a I've never seen before. Or is this how the military is specing the brass now.

I'm pretty sure those are from factory loaded federal ammo that they specify is for use in M1A's. Otherwise, it's basically .308 Win brass.

Yeap, Federal Factory ammo made for M-1As and M-14s,,, for use in matches. made in 2011.

OK, I see. Federial Match ammo. I knew it was 308, I reload 7mm-08.

Federal makes a special 308 load (Also 30-06) which uses powder tuned specifically for M1As and their gas system so as to not bend the op rod. It's great brass.
