Greetings all,

I recently found a colt vest pocket hiding under some floorboards of an old barn
After cleaning it up and fitting a barrel to the lugs, I have all the pieces put in place.

I tried racking the slide, and dry firing, to no avail, tried chambering a round, and the slide will not come back far enough to chamber, and catches on the forward edge of the rim.

I was thinking either spring could be too long. Thoughts?

Maybe this will help. I have one and it shoots perfectly. You have to be careful how you reassemble the sear and trigger/mag disconnects and grip safety if you took the pistol down that far.

I'll give it another look, I took the grip safety and springs out, but I couldn't get the magazine disconnect or trigger out because the trigger pin wouldn't drift.

Sounds like a problem in the firing pin area, maybe a replacement spring or spring guide that is too long.

would anybody care to measure their firing pin, guide and spring? the actual part of the pin that contacts the primer seems unnessacarily long. protrudes out of the slide a good 1/4" or so.

Yeah, it sticks out that far because it's also the ejector. My striker spring is 1 13/16" with 25 coils and the recoil spring is 3 1/2" with 25 coils.
