petrey10 December 3, 2012, 05:06 PM My stevens 200 plastic stock sucks and I am wanting to get a nice looking walnut stock. Doesn't have to be SUPER fancy but if the price where right I would pay for some nice wood. But I can't find anyone that makes a stock for my long action Stevens/savage... i could always go get a cheap laminate at boyds but I would prefer a walnut stock with SOME style.

jmr40 December 3, 2012, 05:14 PM Sell it and buy a rifle with some style that comes with a walnut stock. A decent walnut stock will cost more than the rifle will ever be worth. You'll come out cheaper to just sell it and buy what you want.
viking499 December 3, 2012, 05:57 PM Maybe he really likes his Stevens and it has more value to him than money........
urbaneruralite December 3, 2012, 06:31 PM It may be worth double-checking with Boyd's. They may in fact sell what you seek. ;)
amflyer December 3, 2012, 06:54 PM What urban is saying is that Boyds makes a nice looking walnut stock for your Savage/Stevens with your choice of laser checkering available. They look pretty good to me.
viking499 December 3, 2012, 07:01 PM Boyd's sell walnut stocks too....example.....

Texaszach December 5, 2012, 11:22 AM Awesome, I'm going to subscribe so I can see it when you upload the photo
richie December 5, 2012, 11:34 AM You won't be disappointed with there stocks, good choice.
petrey10 December 5, 2012, 02:17 PM i have a boyds stock on my 10/22 already... pillar and action bedded.... great stock! I just wanted some real walnut on my stevens 200.... so i got it...
I plan to throw on an aftermarket trigger then recoil lug and barrel... trigger will be after the stock is bedded. I bought the Stevens 200 in the beginning knowing I could customize it as I go.
TexasPatriot.308 December 5, 2012, 04:58 PM I got a Boyds walnut stock for my Stevens 200 in 7mm-08, my gunsmith also makes stocks, it took a little whittlin because of the blind magazine. now I have a beautiful tack drivin rifle I always take to deer lease, I am lucky to own some real nice rifles, when I go to the deer lease I always take at least 3 rifles with me, the cheapo Stevens is always one of them. more than likely you will need to do some trimming, so if you do it yourself take your time.
jimmyraythomason December 7, 2012, 07:53 AM this stock is on its way...
http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/PH-SAV...-p/700-012.htm Great choice of stocks! I hope you also bought the longer action screws. You WILL need them.

Got my stock and yes i got longer bolts too.....
Love this stock! Fit is perfect.... grain is pretty good for 100 bucks... my next step is to pillar and action bed.
viking499 December 7, 2012, 07:25 PM Very nice. Looks like its worth the $100 spent. Good job.
Now, we expect to see some targets when you have time.
petrey10 December 7, 2012, 07:46 PM Time will b the kicker..... limited supply of it right now....
viking499 December 7, 2012, 08:03 PM We are in no hurry.;)
FiveInADime December 7, 2012, 08:47 PM Very nice looking rifle.
I don't know how Boyd's does it at that price point. Most of the Boyd's walnut stocks I have seen have been pretty straight grain, but the one I just got for my Marlin X7 7mm-08 stainless has really neat figure and color variation on the fore end.
lefteyedom December 8, 2012, 12:23 AM Sell it and buy a rifle with some style that comes with a walnut stock. A decent walnut stock will cost more than the rifle will ever be worth. You'll come out cheaper to just sell it and buy what you want.
JMR40, 4,888 post and the best you could do was to insult the man's rifle as lacking style?
E.R Shaw's custom rifles are built on Savage 110 actions. the Stevens 200 is a working mans the Savage 110.
Jmr40, sometimes pride comes from improving what you have with what you are able to do.
My old man refinished his Sear's and Roebuck double barrel shotgun till the stock looked like Parker's shotgun stocks. Yeah it was a Savage 311 12 gauge but on a teacher salary with 3 kids to feed he used his sweat, and talent to make up what his pay checked lacked. Shut the front door.
MAKster December 8, 2012, 09:23 AM That new stock is the best $100 you could ever spend. It looks great and has transformed your Stevens.
ngnrd December 8, 2012, 08:25 PM That's perty. Good choice.
Texaszach December 9, 2012, 01:46 AM How was the fit?
Are you going to glass bed it?
Looks nice!
ngnrd December 9, 2012, 08:02 AM ... might want to re-read post #19.
Texaszach December 9, 2012, 04:01 PM Whoops.
Got too tied up looking at the pic, it's easy to miss a line or two when browsing on my phone.
petrey10 December 9, 2012, 05:30 PM i am going to pillar and glass bed the action. I will post pics when I get that done but it could be a little bit.
