Gun With the Highest "Cool Factor"

December 3, 2012, 08:16 PM
What gun do you think is the coolest. It can be any gun you've ever seen, heard of, or own. But it has to be one.

There are many guns that I think are cool, but at the moment it's the Walther ppk with a silencer on it (only after seeing it on Dexter).

i think of all the guns out there....the FN five-seven is definitely among one of the 'coolest'

December 3, 2012, 08:20 PM

December 3, 2012, 08:20 PM
The MP5 is the coolest gun I've ever seen or heard of. I know its an old design now, but I just like it. Always have. :p

December 3, 2012, 08:21 PM
S&w 29

December 3, 2012, 08:27 PM
Since I was 10 years old any quality coach gun or lever action have always been the coolest for me.

December 3, 2012, 08:38 PM
Fn Fal or Arsenal 106fr

December 3, 2012, 08:39 PM
One not requiring a special permit or govt. permission to own (tax stamp), FN Scar 17.

I've had folks lust after mine....

December 3, 2012, 08:50 PM
The 45 ACP Luger:

December 3, 2012, 08:54 PM
That's easy, Colt Single Action Army in .45 Colt. Someday I'll have one till then copies will have to do.

December 3, 2012, 08:55 PM
Gun with a certain kind of cool?

I don't think I can pick just one but I would love to have a good serviceable 12 pounder just for fun.

Sock Puppet
December 3, 2012, 08:59 PM
Winchester 1906 pump action .22 rifle. Old school cool, ya dig?

December 3, 2012, 09:00 PM
Colt Python !!

Ranger Roberts
December 3, 2012, 09:01 PM
There is something about a lever action that I have always found cool. The military side of me has always loved anything fully auto!

December 3, 2012, 09:14 PM

It counts, shut up.

But seriously, it comes with its own plane, whats not to like?

December 3, 2012, 09:19 PM
I would say any gun that had some history behind it. For example Wyatt Earp's or Doc Holidays pistol.

Just about anything that has be manually cycled between shots. Like shifting gears in an 18-wheeler or on a motorcycle, there's something about the operator intervention required that floats my boat.

Semis and DA revolvers have their place in my safe, but I really like cycling the action on my own.

December 3, 2012, 10:24 PM
Mine would have to be one of a few listed here (take your pick):
colt saa
sprinfield armory 1911 trp
winchester 1873
uberti high wall 45-70
smith and wesson top break

to me these are all about as cool as I have seen anywhere

December 3, 2012, 10:39 PM
Hands down, PKM.

December 3, 2012, 10:41 PM
Next to the .351 Winny I'd have to say the S & W 29 6 1/2".

December 3, 2012, 10:42 PM
Browning HiPower, especially a really old one
Dan Wesson 740 with a slotted 8" shroud
Any AR-15 in black
Marlin or Winchester 30-30 lever

December 3, 2012, 10:43 PM
Any gun, even that I could never own? Metal storm, hard to beat 1M rpm (theoretical). More handheld i'd say kriss vector.

December 3, 2012, 11:10 PM
I think I need to ad an m16 to my list. A Vietnam era one; Carrying handle, fixed stock, the whole nine yards. To me, it's cooler than most modern ARs; maybe just how sleek it is. Oh and also a ten round magazine, it makes it more of a rifle than an "assault weapon"

December 3, 2012, 11:16 PM
Definatly a punt gun...... with the little boat that carries it lol

Colt Single Action Army

December 3, 2012, 11:20 PM
I know I'm breaking my own rule here, but there's just so many to choose from. I'm adding a winchester model 1890 in .22 short to my list, it's practically suppressed.:)

December 3, 2012, 11:21 PM
Luger P08 is my number one, that's why have two.

Other contenders:
Barrett 82A1
Thompson 1921
M1 Garand

December 3, 2012, 11:23 PM
Sorta goes without saying.

December 3, 2012, 11:24 PM
Anything belt fed has got a little bit extra something for me...Never gotten to handle on, couldn't afford to shoot one anyways, but dang....I can't think of anything I'd rather do firearm wise than lay a belt downrange....maybe a .50 at 1000 yards, lol

December 3, 2012, 11:26 PM
Swiss straight-pull rifles and Finnish Mosins. Both, in my mind, have a lot of "cool factor" as well as a certain 'old world' feel and panache.

But that might just be me. :)

December 3, 2012, 11:29 PM
The kriss is pretty neat.
I also like the fnp 45 with the rd dot and those rectangular supressors
Hk p7 is probably the all time coolest for handguns, really want to try one
Mateba autorevolver cuz why not
Fal has always been a favorite in the rifle category
I also thought the ar18 was ugly but cool in theory
mg 42

Just occured to me that this should be a picture thread, but I'm on my phone :/

December 3, 2012, 11:35 PM
A little flashy but I'd still shoot it

December 3, 2012, 11:36 PM
I've always liked stainless, nickel and chrome Beretta 92s, 1911s, BHPs, CZ-75s and revolvers with full under lugs; all preferably with wood grips.

December 3, 2012, 11:40 PM
A Red Ryder BB Gun with a compass in the stock, and "this thing which tells time"

December 4, 2012, 12:54 AM

December 4, 2012, 01:27 AM

December 4, 2012, 01:28 AM
For a classic, then a Colt SAA...... I badly want one....

For more modern firearms, a CheyTac M200....

December 4, 2012, 01:30 AM
Hands down its the Browning Automatic Rifle(B.A.R.),it was good enough For Bonnie & Clyde. Tommy Gun real close 2nd

December 4, 2012, 01:36 AM
The single coolest gun?

Man, I've been in love with the Colt Peacemaker since I was a little boy.

Specifically, the Colt Single Action Army in 5.5 inch barrel and .45 caliber. Blue/color case hardened.

And you know what?

Imma gonna have one next year, because THIS year I'll have finally paid off all our outstanding bills and loans.

Not a clone. An honest-to-goodness Colt SAA, just as described above.

I'm drooling just thinking about it...

December 4, 2012, 04:17 AM
An original flintlock american long rifle .

Every part hand made and fitted into a curly maple stock to complete a work of art built by the hands of a long ago master of his craft.

December 4, 2012, 07:15 AM
What gun do you think is the coolest. It can be any gun you've ever seen, heard of, or own. But it has to be one.

I'm going to break the rules by naming two, because I can't decide which is "cooler". Both are nothing short of legendary and have a history to back it up:

MG42. The maximum amount of firepower in a portable package. Looks mean. Sounds mean. IS mean.

Thompson 1928. No explanations needed.

December 4, 2012, 07:21 AM
Zeliska .600 nitro express

December 4, 2012, 08:27 AM

B&T MP9. Oh yeah!

December 4, 2012, 10:19 AM
Definitely has to be something with full auto capability; probably a submachine gun. I think it's a close tie between the Beretta Model 12 and the Beretta Model 93R for the coolest gun out there.

December 4, 2012, 10:45 AM

December 4, 2012, 05:41 PM
No question - type 56 AK-47!

December 4, 2012, 06:41 PM
I like a nice grade of oiled wood with a case hardened receiver (with tasteful traditional engraving) and good bluing on the other parts with iron sights ideally in a caliber that has been around for 50 to 100 years. Doesn't matter so much if rifle, pistol, or shotgun. Having said that, a full Manchlier stock makes me swoon.

The 1911. Rock solid coolness.

December 4, 2012, 08:01 PM

Less serious but still reasonable answers:

December 4, 2012, 08:02 PM
Luger, Mauser C-96, .44 Automag.

villain/anti-hero/hero = all bases covered.

Long gun = B.A.R.

December 4, 2012, 08:18 PM
Hands down its the Browning Automatic Rifle(B.A.R.),it was good enough For Bonnie & Clyde. Tommy Gun real close 2nd

Can't believe I forgot that one, but I changed my favorite to that one.

Yes it is. I have one, it was given to my granddad by my great granddad in the 1920s.

My vote though, is the: Rifle, Caliber 30, M1.

December 4, 2012, 09:09 PM
Coolest machine gun: Browning 1919A6
Coolest classic Pistol: Mauser C-96
Coolest Modern Pistol: USFA ZiP .22
Coolest shotgun: Winchester model 12, with bayonet
Coolest rifle: M41-A pulse rifle. Ten millimeter with over-and-under thirty millimeter pump action grenade launcher.

December 5, 2012, 12:02 AM
Tough choice, but I think my all-time coolest gun would be a H&H, Rigby or Wesley-Richards double express rifle in a light caliber like .303 or 7X57 (or REALLY cool .348 Win.)...

December 5, 2012, 12:35 AM
Krag carbine. Just something about that side-box magazine and amazingly smooth action!

December 5, 2012, 10:33 AM
That's hard to answer.
Handgun, colt single action or colt diamond back
Handgun auto, 1911, hard to beat.
Rifle, there is just something about and old lever gun be it a 73, or 94, or a old savage 99.

Its one of those!

"Quigley" 1874 Sharps. While the .45-110 would just be awesome, I would settle for .45-70.

December 6, 2012, 08:12 PM
I once handled an SKS at a show that had Cryllic writing carved into it and seven notches neatly placed along the right side of the buttstock. I'll assume its owner was a lefty. Coolest gun I've seen so far.

December 6, 2012, 09:21 PM
The Intimidator (

Go from this...

... to this ...

... to this 45 cal muzzle loader; complete with three black powder pellets, primers, bullets, and the tools to put it all together.

No, it's not very practical. But it is pretty cool.

December 6, 2012, 11:10 PM
What's intimidating is knowing your boss' 40lb paperweight contains a slumbering 45 muzzle loader waiting to go "transformer"...:uhoh:

Best joke I can think of for that thing is:
"TIME! Okay, not too bad. Once more; this time with blindfold"

I've seen that guy's website before; cool stuff, and way too much CNC time on his hands :)

December 7, 2012, 10:50 PM
Dude, that gun makes my head hurt.

December 7, 2012, 11:06 PM
They might be old, but I think they are still coll:

Spencer .56-50

and the Paterson Colt

December 8, 2012, 12:28 AM
"Cool factor" depends upon context. "Cool" in a practical carbine course could be an SBR AR-15 with a can and a bunch of great accessories. In a long range course it could be an Accuracy International rifle with Swarovski scope. At a Cowboy Action match, a "cool" gun would be an actual Colt revolver built before 1900.

December 8, 2012, 11:30 AM
ARES FMG, a folding 9mm machinegun. Can be seen in robocop 2.

December 10, 2012, 05:55 PM
When I was a kid, 'Cool' was a 'snub-nose .38'.
Now, it's a close trifecta between the snub, a S&W model 10 (4in light barrel) and Colt's Government Model.

December 10, 2012, 06:50 PM
Winchester 95 Military models, its odd and cool at the same time to have a lever gun in military configuration.

December 10, 2012, 07:17 PM

I'm a sucker for a cool Girl Gun:

December 12, 2012, 03:01 AM
The Gyrojet is a family of unique firearms developed in the 1960s named for the method of gyroscopically stabilizing its projectiles. Rather than inert bullets, Gyrojets fire small rockets called Microjets which have little recoil and do not require a heavy barrel to resist the pressure of the combustion gases. Velocity on leaving the tube was very low, but increased to around 1,250 feet per second (380 m/s) at 30 feet (9.1 m). The result is a very lightweight weapon. However Versions of the Gyrojet that were tested suffered from poor accuracy, cumbersome and slow loading, and unreliability (at best, a 1% failure rate was suggested; users quote worse figures, with many rounds that misfired the first time but later fired). I'd still like to have one just kuz

One of the coolest guns I've personally seen is the Kriss Vector Pistol from Resident Evil Retribution.

I saw and held one at the last gun show and it's a pretty cool gun with a different design and internals. Can be configured as a pistol or SMG. It was also used in the remake of the movie Total Recall.

Its costs about $2k IIRC...

If the gun on the A-10 or just one on the AC-130 Spectre counts, then I suggest a Russian ZSU 23 mm.

For for affordable gun, an M-1 Garand from the CMP. The tv show "Combat" (check Youtube) made it very cool in '64 or so.
It's "coolness" was world-wide and never stopped.

The AR with all the bells and whistles one can possibly cram onto it. Plus, the worlds biggest clip. AR guys are never happy. When finished this thing must weigh 20 lbs.
It looks like something out of Star Wars! All this just to hunt with..............go figure.
