This seems to be the general story that we saw on tv today, and he violated the company's policy by being armed, even though his boss thanked him.

After somebody inside the store pulled a handgun to rob the place, this employee escaped out to his truck, and brought his handgun into the store.
Apparently nobody was injured.

Auto Zone's headquarters might still be in this area. Would you politely call them to protest their corporate policy?

This was brought up on another gun forum I'm a member of, and the bottom line is that every major auto parts store has a similar corporate policy regarding employees being armed. Not saying it's right, but that a boycott would be nearly impossible.

True, and maybe a heap of phone calls would not be appropriate.

These policies must all be determined by their corporate attorneys, who would rather have employees injured or killed (?).

It's all a matter of liability.

If you want these kinds of policies to end (at the risk of turning this thread slightly political), bring the issue of tort reform up with your representatives in congress. The ONLY reason these policies exist is to protect the business' bottom line.

Almost any company, selling or making almost any product is going to have a similar policy. About the only exception would be small privately owned businesses.

The best approach would be to push for legislation that would ban companies from not allowing guns on their property. This has come close to passing a couple of times, but gets shot down.
