Hey all,

I'm looking for advice on the value of a couple of rare items in my collection. I may be willing to part with them if they are worth what I'm thinking.

I have a Hershel House .40 caliber, swamped barrel, double set trigger flintlock made by Hershel in the late 60s or early 70s. I also have a Phil "Blue Jacket" Sanders Indian trade gun, .75 caliber flintlock. Additionally is a very finely crafted .45 flintlock pistol in a case made by Danny Powell, apparently another one of the old school Friendship guys. The engraving and carving are all hand done.

Any ideas anyone??

This is the Danny Powell .45 flinter.

The second one down in the House rifle, third is the Indian Trade gun.

Hmm...hard to price those.

Based on Gunbroker prices, I'd say that the two longarms are worth about $700-$1000 each.

The pistol is much harder. Is it smoothbore or rifled? Does it have a patent breech (hook on the breech end of the barrel, you can easily remove it for cleaning)? And does it have a single-set trigger? Good flintlock pistols are rare, and not cheap. With the case, I'd rate that as $800 minimum, but it could go as high as $1500.

If you are serious about selling, I'd suggest Gunbroker for the two longarms. Set the reserve at whatever you will take as a minimum. The pistol is harder. Gunbroker is OK...but if it's a smoothbore, I might try eGun.de.

I'm not too far off from Mike. From what I have bought and sold in the last few years I would value the pistol at $600, the House rifle at $1200 and the trade gun at $750.
