I have a Beretta M9 that I have had for a few years but I am bored and want something new .It has about 400 rds through it . I got a guy that would trade me for a S.A. XD-9 . Is this a good trade or am I being foolish ?

Keep the M9, buy the XD.

i would keep the M9 and shoot it more if your bored with it try a new set
of grips on it i got a set of Eagle grips on my 92fs its like a new gun

The M9 is worth a bit more than the XD9, so I would hold on to it instead.

I've owned an XD40 and it was a great pistol, but my friend's M9 is a nicer pistol IMO. If it was the XDM model then that would be more of a fair trade vs the older XD9

Not only that. The XD is a whole different ball game. ( Sort of ) Striker fired. No safety or decocker & trigger pull just feels a lot different. Not to forget about the Double action single action aspect compared to solid reset every time.

I personally Like the XD's more, but its only because I've been in the same shoes as you. I ent up keeping the M9 and getting the XD later.

When it comes to firearms I tend to follow the "Buy and Hold" philosophy so keep the M9 and buy an XD or XDm later.

Care to expand on why you are bored with the M9? Are you just punching holes in paper or are you practicing defensive shooting, one handed shooting, weak hand shooting, clearance drills and reloads too? Regardless of the firearm, about the only time I get bored is when simply punching holes in paper.

Put me in as another who would hold onto the M9 and buy an XD9 (or something else), later. I can't say I have ever been bored with a gun so I'm not sure what kind of issue you have with your Beretta. If a gun is 100% reliable, reasonably accurate, well built and durable, and is a good fit in my hand, then I hang onto it forever.

In Ohio, M9 can be had for $550-$600. XD for $389. XDm for $550. If the money isn't a big deal to you, do it. XD is a fine gun. Personally, I'd offer the guy $300-$350 for it and keep the M9 (one of my favorites ).

Is this guy a friend of yours? If so, possibly you could trade pistols for a month with the option to trade back.

You are allowed to change your mind. If you get a gun, and it doesn't work out, you don't have to pay it alimony. There are good reasons to never sell a gun, but if you do, the world will keep turning.

I just found a like-new XD-9 for my wife for $300. I would have very much preferred it to the M-9 I was issued.

I own an XD9 and have fired the M9 at work. I like my XD so much I have 3 at hate them M9. It's too big for the round it fires, too heavy and I don't like the controls or the open slide.

I have a civilian version of the M9, if that makes a difference. Anyway, the slide is as smooth as silk when you rack it. That has always impressed me. Smoothness or slipperiness of feel may not be an important aspect, but I suspect that it indicates how well-made the gun is.

I would be reluctant to trade such a gun for one that does not have the same feel.

I see nothing wrong wih trading off a gun that you do not like.

Well guys I ended up trading it for a Glock 23 that is almost brand new test fire date is 2010 with no "smileys" on the barrel. I like the Beretta but after I have learned to detail strip the Glocks , the M&P's and the XD's and saw how much more simpler they are , the more I wanted to get rid of the Beretta. Just too many parts and springs for me to worry about . I know they are very reliable and they really are but I just feel better about a gun with very little parts that I can break down very quickly and repair easily. Last week I had took my Beretta Cougar apart and converted it from a "F" model to a "G" model. It did it just fine but I realized I prefer a "slick" slide with no slide mounted controls that interfere with the firing pin.
