The trigger on the LCR 22 seems to be heavier than that of the .38, Would lightening it be possible with out hampering reliability? For an older shooter with lesser hand strength.

One the one hand, it seems not.
Ruger says the extra poundage is necessary for reliable ignition with .22 rimfire ammo.

On the other hand, I have a S&W 317 .22RF that took both hands & three fingers to shoot DA.

I replaced the spring with a Wolff reduced power centerfire spring, and it dropped the DA pull by at least 1/3.
And it is still 100% reliable with any brand of .22 ammo I have shot in it in the last 10 years.

I guess the only sure way to find out is get a centerfire LCR mainspring and try it.
