So far, these items have dissappeared from my LGSs:

1. Small pistol primers

2. All 30 cal 150gr bullets

3. IMR-4064 powder

4. AA-4064 powder

5. Re-15 powder

These are just the items I've noticed that have been gone for the last month or so. Every trip to my usual stores shows shelves that are more bare than they were last week. I try to replace what I shoot but I'll have to get into my No-Obammo stash pretty soon.

At the prices LGS charge, I'm sure they're happy they sold it.

Larry,

How far are you from Charleston, WV? We have everything except for AA-4064 in stock at Cabela's (at least we did as of yesterday). We have run out of some items but they tend to show up within a couple weeks. If you do make the trip give me a call at the Optics/Hunting department (Chuck) and I'll put what you need on hold for up to 5 days if we have it in stock. Hope this helps.

parker51, I'm about 3 1/2 hrs from Charleston. Even with my little car getting 38 mpg gas expense would be prohibitive. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful offer but I'd probably come out cheaper by ordering on line and paying the HazMat fee.

Try to get several other reloaders to go in with you and order on line. If you split Hazmat and shipping fees, you can save money all the around over what most stores are charging.

Bring 2-3 reloading buddies with you and make a day out of it.
We drive 4.5 hours to go to a Cabela's with a few friends once a year.
We don't particularly need anything but it's a boys getaway and we have a few laughs and reminisce which we rarely get to do anymore.

I think it's more the distributor the LGS uses..
You know there ain't no way Cabela's is gonna let themselves run out.. they measure their sales PER 15 MINUTES and they're not gonna watch that fall very far..

At a Knoxville, TN gun show yesterday, one vendor was buried in primers (cases of 5000) and prices were the same as he was charging before the election.

While I am only one data point with a less than scientific sampling, the gun show panic buying has not materialized any where near post 2008 election levels in the Knoxville area.

Exactly....

My LGS shelves are always stocked, because their prices are too high. Nearly every handloader I know gets his components thru the mail.

Find a new shop. They are either not ordering sufficient or their distributor has them on the low side of the totem pole.

Things are tightening up but there's no real shortage right now, that won't hit until after Christmas when people have their bills straightened out and the early filers get their tax refunds to spend.

February 2008 things went Apocalyptically nuts. I see that happening again.

I have noticed a few things are a little harder to get, but not near as bad as a few years ago. Alaska usually will have issues keeping stuff in stock so maybe it is the LGS you are using. I do try to shop local as our shipping charges tend to offset any savings unless I find a free shipping deal that actually includes AK (usually Cabelas or Midway).

I went to 3 different stores last Thursday, a gander mountain and 2 private stores and the common reloading components and cheap bulk packs were gone. One shop had 300 primers mag pistol. The owner told me he places orders all the time and gets a third or less of what he orders. He had ordered 30k primers and received 5k which were sold the same day.

The county I live in is big in size and tiny in population, but we have slews of places selling reloading supplies.
I'm a long way from town, but lately have been down often twice a week for doctors visits.
As long as I'm there I might as well stop at a few shops for some OTC BSing. There's been no problems at all with availability of anything.
Prices have stayed pretty stable and shelves are full.

just a thought but 2016 is a long way off. much can happen in that amount of time. now is the time to think about how you are going to keep your way of life from being taken away from you. you think things are in short supply now wait and see next year what things go out of business for no reason. inside the beltway works overtime to trash this sport we should be doing everything possible collectively or individually to thwart every step being made to limit our freedoms. just all of us thinking with that mind set can make a difference.

I don't have a really reliable LGS source for reloading supplies. The one that stocks the most powder and primers always has primers, but often is out of the powders I use most often for rifle cartridges. Pistol and shotgun powders are always in stock. Coincidentally, the shop owner doesn't shoot or reload rifle, just pistol and shotgun.
I have my best luck with rifle powders at gun shows. As a matter of fact, I just picked up 10 pounds of powder Sunday at a gun show. (at surpisingly reasonable prices for a change) I was low enough on one powder that I thought I was going to have to order online, but found an 8 pound jug at the show.

I have yet to find a good LGS in west TN that stocks a good supply of reloading gear at any price point. In fact I refuse to go into the one that is the closest that stocks reloading supplies ( last ammo drought they were selling 50 ct box of 380 acp fmj for $42.95 old stock ammo on top of that). I can only imagine what his prices are now since his store was on the Red Jacket show. There is a gander mtn and a Bass Pro an Hours drive in different directions but I come out cheapier by buying online. They are not local business and I have no issues with buying from a nonlocal business, that caters to my hobby, over bass pro or gander mtn. Every so often I make it to Clarksville TN to visit midsouth shooters supply, but they do not carry winchester primers for some reason. I did happen to find an in home bullet casting operation in Cordova Tn http://www.bulletsdirect.com (midstates bullet co). Its been a while and I need to check to see if they are still going.
Gun shows have become a joke in my area.

No problems in Western Kentucky. Might be a local issue.

The city of Fort Worth will not allow gunpowder to be sold at the gun shows. Usually a fairly good price on primers, but I always order 8# of HP38 and 10K of primers at a time from Powder Valley. Save about $200 over local prices.

I've given up on the local places for components. I end up with 2 hours gone out of my day, and they end up having not quite what I want on hand. Either I get something similar, and pay more than I would online, or go home empty handed.

It's a bummer, but Bruno's and Powder Valley get most of my reloading money now.

On the up side, Bruno's was my LGS until I moved.
