Who has recently placed an order from Budsgunshop and are still waiting for their guns? I placed an order for a Sig Sauer 1911 22LR last Nov. 27, 9 business days ago, and have only received a notice that it was processed Nov. 28 and have not heard from them yet. I only received an email 2 days ago mentioning tha there was a backlog of orders. But it also mentioned that it would still fulfill the 3-7 days of shipping after the order was received.
I am not opening this thread to vent or to complain. I was just wondering if any THR members are having any similar expereinces.

My understanding of places like Bud's is that their business strategy is something like this: Track inventory in stock at their suppliers.
Post ads for sale using the lowest of their suppliers' costs as their cost basis.
When you place an order, they order the inventory and either ship it or have their supplier drop ship it to you.If their supplier is slow, or if the inventory listings are off, then you'll see delays.
Even so, you'll still be getting the lowest price.

I ordered a handgun last month, and it didn't ship until the 10th day. It was here on the eleventh, though.

Bud's is swamped. Apparently they are warning on the website that guns ordered now may not be delivered before Christmas.
I placed an order last Wednesday. Friday I received the following (in part):
Due to the overwhelming demand for firearms over the past several weeks we are going to have to limit future firearm orders to allow our staff to catch up on existing orders, like yours ! We just wanted to send out a quick email update to all our customers with unshipped orders and assure you that the upcoming announcement you may see about Buds limiting firearms which may be purchased and shipped prior to Christmas will NOT affect your order in any way. We will continue to process and ship all open orders as quickly as possible. Our staff is working overtime and weekends, but we are admittedly still pushing 7 business days, or as many as 11 days total including weekends, from the date you completed your order to date we are able to ship.
To be clear, all firearm orders placed prior to this email will be shipped in plenty of time to reach your dealer prior to Christmas. Many customers receiving this email have orders that are already in shipping and may already be shipped by the time you read this email. We are only sending out this notice as a courtesy to all customers with existing open orders to assure you your order is fine unless you hear otherwise from our staff.

With Bud's don't rely on e-mails, go to the website and log on. Then check your order status. I've ordered twice from them and never got a shipping e-mail. So your order might have shipped already.

I bought a gun from buds last year, they are slow on shipping, but anything gun related lately is slow at being shipped as most the companies are over whelmed with business.

It's not just Bud's. I ordered a gun from Grabagun on Dec 2nd. I wasn't shipped til late on Dec 6 and it's getting here the 11th.
They had this heads up: Orders typically ship in 3 business days. Due to the holiday season, shipments may take an extra 1 to 2 business days to ship. Please be patient with us as we ship out your order as quickly as we can.
Kind of on topic but all together Grabagun actually beat Buds price, which is odd. About time they had some competition online.

1) Between the post-election panic buying and the Christmas shopping, many of the online retailers are backed up.
2) Sports South no longer drop-ships for Bud's, they stopped doing that last spring.

I've had bad experiences with Buds Guns, watch out for the 10% restocking fee if you get tired of waiting and cancel.
If I need to buy online I'll go to Cheaper Than Dirt or CDNN, I've had good experiences with both and the price was cheaper than budsgunshop.com.
A lot of the time I go to my local guy with the cheapest price and he matches it no problem and no additional fee for using a credit card like Bud's like to charge.

Even with a $20 transfer and 3% cc fee, my local retailers cannot, or at least will not, come close to matching Bud's prices. My only order with them went as smoothly as possible. In regards to slow shipping, the Xmas rush and post election seasons are upon us....this should be taken into consideration when ordering anything related to guns and/or ammo this time of year. Expecting ultra-fast delivery during the busiest times of year (for Buds, for the shipper, for everyone involved, basically) is kind of silly. I'm betting the same order made in Feb woiuld result in a faster ship time. When you order when everyone else in the world is ordering stuff, a wait should be somewhat expected. When I go to the local bar, I get my drink a lot faster when the bar is empty on a Wednesday afternoon than I do on a Saturday night when the place is packed to the gills. Why would Buds be different?

I have been in the gun business for many years, and will share a few observations.
A lot of folks are like children wanting their toy NOW. If you want it NOW, go to a LGS and buy it!
If you want it CHEAP, deal with Bud's.
NOW, or CHEAP. Pick ONE.
Even though I am a dealer, I sometimes get an otherwise unavailable gun from them. Waiting for something wanted is what an ADULT does. LOL

John,
Well said.
OTOH, the local dealers around here think a HiPoint is a top of the line gun. Ask them about a Springfield or Kimber and I get a blank look. Don't even think about asking for a Dan Wesson....
The couple of times I've ordered from Buds they shipped within 3-4 days. This time it's taking longer but that's not a problem, it's my Christmas present and I really don't want it early.

Well, just to keep you guys updated. I just received an email from Buds mentioning that it was now "in shipping". Well, that's good news.
When I placed this order 2 weeks ago, for one reason or another, I forgot about the political factor that led to pani buying and the Christmas rush. I was just so used to Buds fast shipping. This is about the 8th gun I have bought from them the past few years and I usually get the gun the same within the same week.
I understand how busy they can be. And I am OK with that.

That used to be the case, but Amazon and other online retailers have all three. Biggest reason the bricks and mortar stores are having all their troubles. I can't find much of anything in the local stores, it's only online that you can get a broad selection and a better price. Shipping speed;out on the left coast you get used to it taking some time.
I ordered a laser printer last month, from a dealer on the left coast. I'm expecting it comes out of a wharehouse in Nevada. Nope, all the way from New Jersey. And he paid the shipping....Took 8 days to get here.

I'm one of those guys who has bought from Bud's since 2005 and am now caught in their apparent melt-down. I ordered a pistol on 11/28 and actually expected them to ship within the 3 to 7 days as advertised, or at least let me know what the status is. So far, nothing. No e-mails, no answering phone calls, no 'on-line chat', zero. Good business practice would be to notify customers when you are having problems, not ignore them. As far as I know, they may have "lost" my order or ??? Total vacuum.

Well there is the past election, Christmas rush and a slow down in shipment by the Post Office, UPS and Federal Express to contend with and not withstanding the slow delivery from the firearms manufacturers out to their distributor.

I'm not a fan of Buds. My only experience: On Thanksgiving Day I ordered some ammo. Due to my being an idiot, I messed up and did not order what I actually wanted. I attempted to cancel the order 3 minutes after placing it. I used the "Cancel Order" action on the website. I emailed them. I called them. I did all of those things within 5 minutes of placing the order.
For the phone call... I waited on hold for almost an hour. At one point it said I was down to the 4th person in line and estimated wait time was 8 minutes. That estimated wait time then started to climb and went all the way up to 40 minutes after I had already been waiting an hour...and a good half hour after it said the wait time was 8 minutes.
I was never able to cancel the order. About 6 hours (?) or so after this, I got an email saying they were unable to cancel the order because it had already shipped. Yeah...right.

Since Bud no longer has anything to do with Bud's Gun Shop, I don't have much to do with Bud's. Nothing against them, they've just gotten too big and have lost their personal service. I've been a customer for over 25 years but the current crop of employees don't know anyone except the big money buyers.

I am beginning to feel the same way. I miss when they where very fast in their shipping. The other day, my wife bought a book for my daughter from Amazon. It arrived in less than 100% new looking. The cover looked liked it got wet and the side of the book had a large pentel pen mark on it. My wife did not complain about it but commented on the feedback portion of the website on the condition and appearance with no hint of complaint. AFter 2 days, a brand new book was shipped overnight via UPS to our door. Now that's service for you!! And this is during the Christmas rush hour!! Beat that!

Buds is pretty backlogged from my understanding. Right now they have little gift boxes next to their gun listings. If the giftbox is clear it'll ship before Christmas. If it's X'd out, then it probably won't. Realistically as long as they're upfront about that its fine, and I understand as its a busy time of year.
All worth it to me. I've grown rather patient in recent years but I still like to save money where I can. If it means waiting a bit longer then so be it. If I needed a particular gun in a hurry I'd buy locally.

My gun was fianlly shipped yesterday and should arrive tomorrow. From the time of order till expected time of delivery will be 13 business days. I guess business has been VERY busy and they could not have fulfilled the 3-7 business as advertised. Oh, well..just as long as I get my gun, I should be happy.:p;):D

FWIW, I ordered an M&P15-22 on December 5. IIRC, Buds stated it should ship in 7 to 11 business days. Last Friday night I received a notice that it was "going to the shipping department." This evening, my local FFL called, it had arrived.
All things considered with the current overload, I'm happy. Besides, it's my Christmas present and I have to wait anyway :)

Fron Bud's website:
Sorry....all Customer Service options are completely overwhelmed. You will likely not get through on the phone or get a timely response to an email
The website continues to take orders normally, and we continue to process and ship normally, although you should expect substantial delays, possibly 2 weeks
If you want a firearm ?...place your order on the website and wait...if there are ANY problems with your order ?....WE WILL CONTACT YOU !!
And the bumped prices ~8.5% on Glocks....they're out of S&W M&P15s in all varieties...business is a bit brisk!

The last time I checked, Amazon doesn't sell firearms.
Seriously, the last gun I bought from Bud's was ordered on 11/27 and arrived on my FFL's doorstep on 12/3. I am a member of the VIP club, though. I had to join to get a deal that I was two hours too late jumping on. They have a way of moving stuff to the VIP-only list when stock gets low.

I've used Buds several times. Make sure they have my correct FFL receiver info., put em on my "Wish List" and wait.
E-mails come when the firearm is in the pipeline. Simple.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Buds. They are slow to ship some guns. It took close to two weeks to get my last gun I purchased from Buds. There was no rush or panic buying at that time. The gun I received had been test fired ten days before I received it.
