work2shoot December 11, 2012, 04:07 AM Bob passed away on Monday December 10th 2012. He died quietly next to his wife Becky. A Grand Titan in shooting sports is gone. A void that probably won't ever get filled again. Nobody loved guns and shooting more than he did. We'll miss him.

Al Thompson December 11, 2012, 07:30 AM Sad news. I first encountered Bob at Myrtle Beach SC when I was 16. He was shooting wax bullets (exhibition) at balloons and showing his quick draw skills. I must of watched for an hour. He was very kind to a pimply faced kid.
RIP Mr. Munden.

armoredman December 11, 2012, 12:40 PM The Good Lord needed the only man who can outdraw the Devil.
Cosmoline December 11, 2012, 12:45 PM Sorry to hear that. He was one of the last and greatest of the exhibition shooters. It's a mix of firearm prowess and theatrics that used to be found at every county fair, but is almost entirely gone now. It was a uniquely American form of entertainment.
richie December 11, 2012, 12:59 PM Such sad news, another great role model gone, RIP Bob, you will be missed.

General Geoff December 11, 2012, 01:45 PM Rest in Peace to the best there's ever been.
Frank V December 11, 2012, 01:50 PM I am really saddened by Bob's passing.
Prayers for Becky, both are super people.
Everyone talks about how fast he was with a Colt & he was. However possibley his greatest skill was tuning up a Colt SAA. I have a couple he did & now I will really treasure them. One time I took one to Bob, & he asked do you have a bit of time? I said yes, Bob took me to his shop & said heck I'll do it now. I watched & asked questions as he worked. He gladly answered each one.
Meanwhile Becky was visiting with my Wife. They had a great time. I didn't know Bob really well, but I saw him several times in resturants in Butte, he remembered me & we'd say hi & visit a minute. Bob once showed me a Colt SAA he'd built up for Becky, I've never seen a slicker working Colt. Bob lived an hours drive from my home & I could take him a gun, he'd do the action job, & I could drive back up & pick it up. I didn't have to trust a valuable gun to the mail.
You can bet I'll treasure the ones he tuned up for me.
I'll miss Bob
Frank

Tim the student December 11, 2012, 04:22 PM Sad news.
My condolences to friends and family.
Dnaltrop December 11, 2012, 04:31 PM Wow... that just turned my already bad day into a terrible one.
Watching and copying his footage helped make me confident enough to carry a single action revolver. No hope of coming close to his speed, or aim.... But how many of us could?
We'll all miss you Bob.
kenny87 December 11, 2012, 04:33 PM Is there any news to confirm this? There is nothing on his website, nothing from any news source, yesterday when posted there was nothing on Wikipedia, today a death date was added to the wiki with no explanation or details at all, and the few forum post I have seen around gun forums just say "he has died" with no source at all.
It wouldn't be the first time someone makes up a death story for laughs, seen it before and will see it again, if the poster is of close relations and happens to be able to know this before it hits the news it would be nice to know.
kenny87 December 11, 2012, 04:38 PM found some news, and appears to be true

work2shoot December 11, 2012, 06:08 PM Bob passed away from a heart attack on his way home from the hospital. Becky was driving them home and Bob's heart stopped. He was dead on arrival to St. James Medical here in Butte. We were all there to met her when she arrived. Bob looked peaceful, but he was gone. Natalie, Bob's daughter will be posting more on Bob on the Munden website shortly.
Liberty1776 December 11, 2012, 10:08 PM I am so, so sorry. Met him after a show and he tuned an SA for me. Very nice man and could and would talk for hours about guns and shooting. One of a kind... my heart and prayers go out to his wife and daughter.

Ric December 12, 2012, 01:36 PM I hope forever feels like home for him. Amazing shooter
I remember that safety pin shot:what:
Long range with a snubby and even a belt buckle 22
600 yards with a 44 mag. And so many more
And the fast draw WOW
Bob was the man
Never met him but talked to Becky on the phone to have Bob do an action job on a 586 l-comp for me. Smooth as silk, glad I kept the receipt from him. I won't have anything else done to this gun.
Prayers and condolences to Becky and their daughters.
Ps
My wife just reminded me about him shooting using Becky's diamond ring as a mirror on Impossible Shots. I told her "there must be a gun range in Heaven"
She said......."there better be"
SHOOT1SAM December 12, 2012, 01:38 PM I remember watching him for the first time on "That's Incredible!". Watching him live, & meeting him, was a great moment for me.
