Just moments ago, the Ohio Senate Judiciary Committee adopted three amendments and passed HB495.

This important bill now moves to the full Senate for a vote and we need your calls right now to encourage Senators to pass our bill.

HB495, also known as the reciprocity & concealed carry modernization bill, makes three changes to current law:
Changes to automatically honor other states' licenses, similar to a driver's license.
Eliminates the "demonstrated competency" requirement for second and future CHL renewals, making CHL training similar to a hunting license.
Fixes the definition of a "loaded gun" to match the commonly accepted definition.
Time is extremely tight because tomorrow is expected to be the last day of the legislative session. The bill still requires a floor vote in the Senate, and then a concurrence vote on the House floor before they adjourn for the year.

If the bill passes both these hurtles, it will head to Governor Kasich for his signature. Any bills not sent to the Governor die at the end of the year.

Call your Ohio State Senator now! http://www.ohiosenate.gov/senate2012/index

The OH Senate President, Tom Niehaus really screwed OH CHL holders on this amendment by demanding stripping reciprocity on this bill for a floor vote. Lost the real value of the bill. But something is better than nothing.

Loaded magazines no longer = loaded gun. I'm assuming this includes both long guns and handguns?
